On June 27th Jay passed away in a tragic ATV accident. Jay was only 38 and left behind his wife Danna, and two sons, Cody (15) and Jaxon (5).
We lost a good one at a way too young age. Been hunting with he and his dad since he was 12.
“You won’t have to pack but you will be with us on every hunt. “
RIP 180-GRAIN

Friends of the family started a gofundme for immediate needs. No one expects it to happen at 38.

A terrible tragedy. I am so sorry for your loss, for his wife, his children, and for him. It sounds like you have many fond memories and hopefully they soon overshadow his loss and bring you some comfort. :'(

Very nice Memorial yesterday at a ranch overlooking the skykomish river. His 5 year old son said “Dad’s gone to Heaven where all the big bucks are.”
Agreed.

This can be moved if needed or another thread started. Let's make sure these 2 boys get to experience as many of the things as we can possibly do that they would have with their dad. Not sure if there is extended family members getting these boys out hunting and fishing, but I'd happily help in any way I could, whether any kind of hunting/fishing trip or paying for licenses in the future. The Go Fund Me is great, but I'd like to do more "outdoorsy" catered things to get these boys through this tragedy. I'm sure there will be plenty of backing from the Huntwa guys who always seem to step-up as well.

Thank you Muley, I’ll make sure the Mom is aware of the support which I know she will find comfort in.

I knew Jay. We exchanged Lots of emails on his Late Chiwawa tag. He loved hunting both in and out of state. This is the time of year he loved to be out chasing bears.. He will be missed. RIP Jay

Those boys have been on my mind the last few days and I was just thinking this same thing today. I know he had some good tags this year. Could they be transferred to his boy? I could do some leg work on that if needed. Don't want to overstep my bounds though as a complete stranger. Just thinking out loud.

Great idea Karl.

RIP 180. Very sad news.
-
Wow just seen this. RIP!

180-Grain filled his Utah public lands tag in 2018 and looked forward to guiding my son who drew it this year. Unfortunately we lost Jay last summer but his dad went with us and we toasted Jay as my son tagged out two weeks ago. Thank you 180-Grain.
