Anyone see the bull that was shot by a native in Elgin? Pretty neat bull. I got pics... Don't know if they want it posted or not.
-
Fine...
-
Geezzzzz that looks huge.
I would probably be shaking like a leaf at full draw
-
Stud bull for sure!! One day I'll be lucky to just see one like that. Score wise 380??
-
Where is Elgin??? Or what is Elgin??
Heck of bull
-
Oregon south of Walla Walla
-
Special tag?
-
Special tag?
Sounds like a tribal thing

Special tag?
Sounds like a tribal thing
That's kinda what I was wondering
-
Yeah I doubt they call it a “special” tag. Only us guys who might get lucky enough once in our lifetime to hunt a bull like that would call it a special tag.
-
:yeah:
Jerky and E-Bay $$

Jerky and E-Bay $$
Should be half cooked by the time he gets home!
-
He's got that meat just laying in the back of that dirty truck on a 90 degree day. Good stuff!
-
I’m sorry that’s a dandy big bull
But
My two cents
Not really after meat
If so
Shoot spikes or young cow
Probably can shoot 6 a year
-
Where is Elgin??? Or what is Elgin??
Heck of bull
Just the other side of the Blues from Walla Walla. That's not the only big bull that gas station will see this year. It's rite at the corner of 2 of Oregon's "Big Three" units and bulls from a couple of other decent units go through there.

Looks like hide on.

Oregon started it's archery season started on the 29th and Elgin sits at the corner of 2 units you'll only ever get a tag for once in your life. Hard to say if it was a "native" in Elgin, or an Elgin native that shot it. I doubt it was on a tag connected to any tribe.
-
Fueled up at that same station on our way to our hunt last Friday. That is a dang nice bull but agreed that it doesn't look good with the cape on carcass in the back. Not sure what day that was but it was very warm during the day opening weekend.
-
good GRAVY what a bull! :o

More important than a native kill, hows your dads hunt going??????

No luck the first 3 days of the hunt. Saw cows, calves and spikes but no shooter bulls. Headed back for 16th-27th to hopefully fill his tag

The man is Native American... I blurred his face for the site.

The main question is the source of the tag not the color of his skin.
-
The hunter is from the nez Pierce tribe, he kills lots of big bulls, not only in just Oregon! NOT impressed.
-
Even less respect after seeing how they care for the meat.
-
Every year occurrence whether its nez perce or umatillas they hammer the big bulls in Septemberin the Blues.. Those old bulls must be tender and taste good cause that is what they target..
-
Is that a archery bull? :o
-
Is that a archery bull? :o
if it was Umatilla it would have to be. But being Nez I highly doubt it!
-
Yea they’d hit their limbs on the steering wheel when drawing back
-
I don't care who killed it. Congrats to the hunter on a darn nice bull.
-
Exactly why we should just get rid of the draw system and do 3 pt minimum like on the westside. Tribal are the ones benefitting from us waiting a lifetime for 1 or 2 OPPORTUNITIES to chase a bull like that. Rediculous
-
Bone in, hide on, hot weather, boiling meat. Probably end up dog food.
-
:yeah:
Nice bull
-
I don't care who killed it. Congrats to the hunter on a darn nice bull.
If it was a non native poached bull would you care? This guy takes many big bulls, not because he's a great hunter or lucky in a draw.
-
Regardless of who shot it they definitely don't give a *censored* about the meat and that right there pisses me off!!

Geezzzz you guys are nuts.
1. Who the heck knows who shot it or if they had a LOP tag or drew an archery tag???
2. Who knows if he took the picture just after getting the bull out and was about to skin the quarters and get them into a cooler?
All you have to go on is a picture of a bull in a truck, not like there is a clock and thermometer running on how long it's been dead or how hot it is. I mean, if the guy wasted the meat that is a shame but it's not like this picture proves that theory.
Now in 2013, while trying to fill my bull tag, I personally witnessed a Governor tag holder shoot a monster bull and then leave the meat in 90+ degree heat for over a day. He was a white guy hunting on native land (Rainwater). When I posted up about that the forum turned on me and by the end of the first page I was made out to be the bad guy for making "assumptions" even though I was literally there to see the whole thing unfold. This place never ceases to amaze me.
Edit: Saw the post that indicated he physically appears to be Native. WHO THE F CARES! Just because he is native does not mean he didn't have to draw the tag. I am about as outspoken as it gets when it comes to poor native hunting practices but this is a picture at a gas station that has people making up imaginary facts. For all any of us now this guy is an honorable man that shot a great bull. If not, well I guess he deserves the flames.

If hes already at a gas station with the meat uncared for like that, its pretty telling. Where theres smoke, theres flames. Youre pulling the "you guys are only flaming him because hes native" card. But let me ask, would you be throwing a fit defending him if he was white? I doubt it. Nice virtue signaling. HEY EVERYBODY, LOOK HOW NOT RACIST THIS GUY IS! HES DEFENDING A MINORITY REGARDLESS OF HOW TERRIBLE THEIR BEHAVIOR IS! WHAT A PROGRESSIVE!

It’s not a secret who the guy is to some.

LOL you don't know anything about me bud. If you did you would know how silly you sound in your description of me. I do try to have accurate information before I fly of and make assumptions, because contrary to what you believe of me, that sort of quick to point fingers crap is in actually a very progressive way of thinking. So, might as well get up from the keyboard and go take a look in the mirror champ.
The point is, YOU don't know the whole story behind this gas station picture. That is just a simple fact. Elgin is a tiny little town and that bull could have been killed 5 minutes from that gas station. I drive through that town at least 10 times a year and what I've just said is the truth. I will condemn the holy he!! out of the guy if the whole story comes out and ends up being the way many have said. But i'm not going to do that based on a picture at a gas station. As I said above I couldn't even get away with condemning a person that I actually saw waste meat.
-
Wasted meat for sure!!
-
Looks like an amazing bull. Sad that it appears to be very poorly taken care of.

CoryTDF, this particular guy has a long history of being discussed on HW (if its who I think it is)
he's earned the disguest and criticism.
This is *that* guy right OP?
The jerky factory guy?
If so, don't bother blurring it out imo

*If* the same guy I believe he, imo, gives the single biggest black eye to tribes of all names in this state. Has bragged online about the number of trophy bulls killed for his jerky business....bragged online about killing a bull with a 9mm and shooting it I forget how many times. *If* the same person imo it's as bad of apple as you would get in a bunch.

I get it, the thing is that NONE of us can see him or know the whole story. Trust me, when I was chasing bulls in the Rainwater with my bow and the natives where up there blasting them with rifles I had some strong feelings about it. I have some strong feeling about a lot of native hunting/fishing behaviors. I'm not foolish enough to air them out here but I can comfortably say the tone is negative at best.
That said I know plenty of natives that are honorable people. HW has some pretty prominent members that would fall into the category. So, seeing a bull in the back of a truck and seeing a native shot it is not a qualification for me to freak out. That is all I'm saying. It makes people look ignorant when they do that.
As for the meat... It's not how I would do things but then again, who knows the whole story? There could be a million reasons the meat was not boned or skinned and that photo is not proof that the meat was bad or that it was wasted.
-

And if that is true fire away! I'll join in with everyone. I just can't do it based on the picture and story provided. That knee jerk reaction is why so many people quit posting photos on this site.

But its not a knee jerk in this instance
That meat can be pretty rank and still make jerky for the white man...

Yeah, it's just that there is no proof of any of that in this thread. So, for now I'll hold my condemnation. If what you say comes to light and is shown to be true i'll be right with everyone in talking trash about the guy.
-
Somebody PM me a pic of who this jerky guy is and I will tell you if it's him. I did not take the picture and I do not know who this guy is. I just posted it for the antlers and didn't even care to critique the handling of the meat. I don't believe that the meat would spoil in a few hrs so maybe he didn't plan on hunting that day but had his bow and drove by somewhere he could hunt and bam. A bull was standing there. So he just shot it and wasn't prepared to hunt so he quickly quartered it and threw it in to get it home.
Or maybe he shoots elk everywhere and doesn't care because he makes money on jerky and eBay antler sales. I don't know guys. Like I said, send me a pic of the bad guy and I can tell you if it's him or not. I just admired the antlers so I shared it.
-
Is this the jerky guy?
-
That’s not Arron W , Arron is the jerky guy from the yakama tribe. I wouldn’t doubt the nez has their own jerky guy too
-
Nice roadkill salvage. Glad he was there to save as much as he could. That will feed his large family for some time, especially helpful since he is laid off due to covid.
I have no inside knowledge of this situation. Made it all up to show how easy it is.
-
Theres always a million possible explanations, but 9 times out of 10 things are exactly what they look like.

my experience as well

Exactly, maybe it was a salvage and I was misinformed as well. The white tub might have the guts and everything else in it... :dunno:

Sure looks like a jerky operation to me ??

Sure, but you just don't know for sure based on a single photo. It's painfully ignorant to speak about it until you know the whole story. If the facts align with your theory then fire away. Until then it's not right to fly off about it.
Example:
In your avatar you have a raven with an eyeball. I assume you are hip to Norse mythology and the stealing of Odin's eye. I am also sure you must understand that Asatru, the belief of old Norse gods, is the religion of most white supremacist groups. You also show that you are from northern Washington which happens to be next northern Idaho, a hot spot for white supremacy. So, you are clearly a racist and bigoted White Supremacist, NW Boot Boy, Skinhead or a member of AF right? See how easy it is to make things up based on a single photo with no real facts?
-

You can see two inches of yellow rope...

This is not a thread related to Aaron Whitefoot. We're going to keep it that way.

:hello:
Figured I better join the party.

Locked - Nothing good can come of this thread.
If anyone has any *actual evidence* of wrong doing from these tribal guys pm a mod, and we'll discuss it.
Otherwise, I'm not really interested in the cory/bango shireshow :chuckle:
