Title: Snohomish County Boat Trailer Repair
Post by: KP-Skagit on September 04, 2020, 07:21:29 AM: Anyone know a place? Only one I know of is Smiley's up in Mount Vernon.

Was winching my boat up last night to find my winch going toward my boat instead of the other way around. Weld broke on the base of the winch stand. Would just weld it up but I'm leery of welding galvanized metal, plus corrosion after the fact.

Post by: ChesapeakeMan on September 04, 2020, 10:58:10 AM: Welding galvanized parts is not a big deal except the fumes are nasty. You will want to avoid breathing them in. A respirator or a big fan is all that is needed. As far as corrosion goes the standard practice is to spray cold galvanizing over the area and call it good. Unless you want to send it off to someone to have it regalvanized in a dip tank. Aalbu Brothers in Arlington could take care of you and they are easy to work with.
