What constantly amazes me is how many unarmed retards we have out here. You shouldnt get bitten by a cougar while intervening in its attack on your dog. If you shoot it, youre not within biting distance. So many grass eaters out here live among apex predators and dont even have guns, its just insane.

:yeah:
Protected by Spandex :chuckle:

It wasn't located too quickly... We got called the next day and had to trail an 18hr old track in 90° weather. He was an old mean Tom and would not tree. By the time my hunting partner could get there he had killed my Nosey dog at the bay up. That cat was bad news, he would have caused more problems if we hadn't killed him. Probably 12+ years old and skinny

Sorry to hear that man
-
Sorry to hear - glad you got em though
-
Dang, sad to hear about the pup.
Good job tracking the cat though, not ideal conditions.
-
Sorry to hear, you can't loose a bad dog, it's always good dogs that get killed because they are in there getting it done.

I’ve never felt the need for a gun when in the woods. Maybe I need to rethink that with the high numbers of predators now?

You have some good dogs to pick up on a track that old and that hot. To bad you lost your dog but it happens.Atleastbyou put an end to that cat that would of continued to be a problem.
Do you have a picture of that cat?
-
Sorry to hear Bart, glad you got to kill that cat. Sucks to lose a good dog, take care.
-
Sorry to hear about your Nosey dog, WAcoyotehunter.
-
That sucks about your dog. Hopefully the state has some kind of compensation when that happens, not that you can replace a good dog....
-
Sorry you lost one of your dog WAcoyotehunter!
Chin up and keep up the hard work! I always enjoy hearing what you are working on when you’re on the Meateater podcasts.

Hardest thing associated with being a houndsman is loosing a dog. I remember how my cousins felt when they lost dogs, never easy. Even though you know inside it can happen anytime you cut them loose, still hard.
-
Sorry about your dog. Thank you for doing what you do

good job WA sorry bout your hound its heartbreaking news. turns a good day upside down :(
-
Very sad to hear about losing your pup, my sincere condolences and heartfelt thanks for being willing to take the risks to go after these problem cats and make things a little safer for the rest of us. Thank you!
-
That cat certainly had to go, terrible you had to lose your dog. I am sure the community is real happy that thing is gone, who knows how bad it could have gotten if it wasn't removed.
-
Thanks guys. There is some comfort that she died on a hunt. She has been a great hound and had some close calls over her career, including one that was almost certain death and led to me getting attacked.
That cat definitely had to go.

Wow, the things you never hear about! As stated thank you for what you and your dogs do, it is their life to do those things like all hunting dogs bread for that. Being on a hunt makes it a little better, beats hit by a car or cancer or....but still tough on you I am sure, the hours and money put in are painful but the relationship is the tough part. Way to serve the community!!

That dog deserves a procession all the way to Heaven!
