how did you guys do today. i cant hunt because iam in school :'(, just wanted to know how the birds are acting. :dunno: :dunno:
-
Spur ride said he got a tom, I have not seen the bird, he said he would post pictures.
-
A bird from one of my students. :chuckle:
-
He got him opening day (yesterday). 9" beard on him. Got it at 20 yards with a 20 gauge. I was at a track meet yesterday and the bus had to stop for really nice tom to walk across the road in front of us.
-
You live in great country Teach. I'm jealous. Congrats to your student on a great bird.
-
Congratulation to your student...great bird. Not to be picky, but might want to advise him to avoid the red T-shirt and white tennis shoes (?), as those are two of the three colors on a gobblers head. Would not want some one to mistake a piece of his clothing for a bird....just food for thought.....safety is critical in turkey hunting.
-
He looks thrilled. :chuckle:
-
Skipping school to hunt turkeys....I'd have a bigger smile than that. Probably was thinking oh oh, hope Mom doesn't go on huntwa ;)
-
He got it about 200 yards from his house, we got off school yesterday at 1:00 because of conferences. We have 1/2 days the first week of rifle deer season because of conferences also. Kind of funny how that works. The kid doesn't smile much. :chuckle:
-
Thats a nice looking bird. Congrats to your student!
-
You damn state employees. :chuckle: Kind of like Boeing strikes every fall during deer season and salmon runs......
I'm glad there are still a few kids out there that know how to take advantage of an oppurtunity. 8)
-
That's funny Bone. Just a coincidence that the Machinist's contract ends at the beginning of bow season? I made a prediction when the strike started that it would end at the close of elk season. I was pretty darned close.
-
Nice bird!
-
Beautiful bird!!!!
-
Here is my success, he is teh only thing that resonded to teh calls... :) :chuckle:
-
Great Bird!

I skipped a half a day of school. Pretty much a waste of time, and I almost killed my truck :bash:.
-
Pinetree didn't tell me I would need snowshoes.....
Missed a jake with the bow in the morning, got this one headed to his roost before dark. One down, two to go... :)
-
Nice birds.....
-
Nice bird loki. Looks like you use the same gun I do.
-
We hunted 2 days and couldn't get the birds to come away from the privet land :dunno: We did manage to break the truck ! The The thing that pumps the deisel to the dealy quit...cost over 9oo to get a new part. :'(
-
If I just said the word "Turkey" my kid would grin bigger than that. Maybe he's having joystick withdrawls. I heard they can be pretty bad sometimes. :chuckle:
Nice turkey, Loki. Interesting way to hunt, up to your crotch in snow. Good picture!
-
:)nice birds, hunted 20 min opening morning whacked a jake. Built about 1/4 mile of new fence. fixed some and fixed the electric one.
25 rock chucks and 2 coyotes, one blondish without a tail.
Got home last night.
-
Sounds like you had some good hunts bofire. Where did you find all of those rock chucks at?
-
:)Fruitland area. private property. the 25 were with 2 shooters, sharing a rifle., 31 shots. best run was I got 3 in a row at 350 yards. Skinny barrel 22-250 Tikka T3 lite. There were lots of them and they were big. I got one at 40 yards with my 45acp. :chuckle:
I think I'll go back in a week or two.

what do you do with the rockchucks after ya shoot em? are they anygood for eatin?
-
coyotes and buzzards like them real well :), and stock likes not stepping in the holes. they breed like crazy pasture rats. they are another pest that must be controlled.
-
Right on to those that got birds and had a good time, i got to see my dad finally get an Eastern this morning, a jake but nonetheless his First Eastern and second over all, played all weekend with a bunch of them one which we've battled for a couple years now that has a rope that drags the ground......I'll be on him like a tick again next weekend :)
