He got him opening day (yesterday). 9" beard on him. Got it at 20 yards with a 20 gauge. I was at a track meet yesterday and the bus had to stop for really nice tom to walk across the road in front of us.

Congratulation to your student...great bird.  Not to be picky, but might want to advise him to avoid the red T-shirt and white tennis shoes (?), as those are two of the three colors on a gobblers head.  Would not want some one to mistake a piece of his clothing for a bird....just food for thought.....safety is critical in turkey hunting.

He got it about 200 yards from his house, we got off school yesterday at 1:00 because of conferences. We have 1/2 days the first week of rifle deer season because of conferences also. Kind of funny how that works. The kid doesn't smile much.  :chuckle:

You damn state employees.   :chuckle:   Kind of like Boeing strikes every fall during deer season and salmon runs......

I'm glad there are still a few kids out there that know how to take advantage of an oppurtunity.   8)

That's funny Bone.  Just a coincidence that the Machinist's contract ends at the beginning of bow season?  I made a prediction when the strike started that it would end at the close of elk season.  I was pretty darned close.

If I just said the word "Turkey" my kid would grin bigger than that.  Maybe he's having joystick withdrawls.  I heard they can be pretty bad sometimes.   :chuckle:

Nice turkey, Loki.  Interesting way to hunt, up to your crotch in snow.  Good picture!

:)Fruitland area. private property. the 25 were with 2 shooters, sharing a rifle., 31 shots. best run was I got 3 in a row at 350 yards. Skinny barrel 22-250 Tikka T3 lite. There were lots of them and they were big. I got one at 40 yards with my 45acp. :chuckle:
I think I'll go back in a week or two.

coyotes and buzzards like them real well :), and stock likes not stepping in the holes. they breed like crazy pasture rats. they are another pest that must be controlled.
