Title: Flir - Thermal imaging
Post by: BKMFR on September 20, 2020, 01:29:09 AM: Does anyone have any experience with Flir? Looking for any info.- good or bad would be appreciated!

Post by: mburrows on September 20, 2020, 09:17:43 AM: I used to work for flir and only got a limited amount of exposure to the thermal imaging products. Primarily supported laser designator and laser range finding products for their large gimble systems. I did check out a couple different thermal monoculars though. Their newer products are pretty awesome especially the higher end stuff.

Look up the reviews on Predator Masters. Kirsh uses/used their thermals.

Great stuff but as said, you get what you pay for. military grade stuff is $pendy and not in play. IR is wonderful and adjustability/ temp sensitivity is awesome on the "good stuff". you would be surprised at this technology used behind the magic curtains... for a coyote night scope, they would work well, even blood trail tracking with any temp delta (still warmer than surrounding/ground). full disclosure, i have not used the civilian sold scopes but have used some of the hand held devices for work environments. great stuff...

More to the point. I have the pulsar trail xplrf. It is really quite awesome. Works day or night. Can see hot stuff at a mile.

Post by: CastleRocker on January 08, 2021, 12:42:40 PM: We had a FLIR scope when I was in the fire department. Used it to find hot spots after structure fires, and underground after a wildland fire. Worked great.

I heard Teledyne bought them out last week for something like 8 billion.
