OLYMPIA – The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) invites the public to submit written comment on a proposed spring black bear season rule change by Oct. 29.
The proposed rule modifies season dates, permit numbers in some areas, and removes two private timberland properties from the North Skagit hunt.
"We need your feedback on the proposed rule to better understand how the public feels about adjusting season dates and permit numbers in some areas," said Anis Aoude, WDFW game division manager. "We'll use this information to guide how we offer spring black bear opportunities in 2021."
Follow the link to the survey to provide feedback by Oct. 29. The public can also submit written comments via email or mail to:
WDFW Rules Coordinator
PO Box 43200
Olympia, WA 98504-3200
The Fish and Wildlife Commission will host a public hearing for this rule update at their December 3-5 meeting. Visit the department's website for more information on the proposed rule.
WDFW is the primary state agency tasked with preserving, protecting, and perpetuating fish, wildlife, and ecosystems, while providing sustainable fishing and hunting opportunities.

When I get time I will take it, thanks for posting. Even though in my heart I know they need to give out more permits in my unit, I hope they don't. But that's the selfish side of me, those deer and elk need help in the blues bad!! But all predators need lowered, not just bears. I saw at least 20 bears in 17 days of hunting, that only includes a couple cubs.

Are you guys able to see the proposal? The survey doesnt give any specifics and i cant find the actual proposal. I try and touch the blue numbers and my phone tries to call that number.

Thanks, no real big changes

Thanks. Interesting the move from april 1 to 15 for the opener.

Short survey. :dunno:

I wish they would just extend the regular season to include the spring, even that, with boot hunting I don't think will put enough of a dent in the bear numbers. Every time I go out, in every place I go. I see bear sign from more than one bear.... Saw sign of a real bruser while I was elk hunting. It would be in the running on that scat pile thread. It was as big around as my boot is wide, and half a bucket of crap. I think they should go to year around on bears and cats, to try and get the numbers down some, and I don't think that would be enough.

Survey taken and comment left. Thanks
