Hey guys how late in the year are bulls normally bugling?
-
As of this last weekend, still bugling hard in the east Cascades! Activity was dying down around 9 or 10 am, and bulls were screaming again around 4:30 or 5:00 PM. We were in a spike only unit, but man, we saw some nice bulls.

Yes, area dependent. As long as there is a hot cow in the mix, the bull vocalization will continue.
-
Thank you for the replies
I heard of cows coming into heat 30 days after their first cycle if they were not bread the first time
-
Yup, night before last. One was ripping it up in our pasture, woke me up! That didnt make me happy. :chuckle:
-
I was showing a 200 ac parcel yesterday and we jumped some elk. After a couple minutes they started bugling about 500 yds away.. Just enough bugling to help me write up an offer for an excited buyer/hunter.
-
Bet ya wish you had some bugling bulls on every property you showed.
-
Boy I could hide in the brush and bugle at your next property for a reasonable fee...
-
Get some big sheds and stash them on the properties youre showing :chuckle:
-
I showed one property and as soon as we drove up the drive way a couple deer crossed in front of us and when checking out the sellers ground blind area a flock of turkeys flew in from uphill and practically landed at our feet. "OK, turn the turkeys loose" I yelled up the hill. No offer from those buyers but I do have one now on that parcel..

Seen cows in heat at oak creek in January with bulls bugleing and mounting as if it was September.
-
Definitely had 3 bulls bugling last day of deer rifle season last year down in the blues .
-
Still bugling early this week at my place, about 10pm, Central Wa.
-
Thanks guys

Two bulls bugling and cows talking as we speak. Fifty yards behind my house in 329.
-
friend in ID deer hunting saw a big 6 bugling and trying to mount cows today

The Yakima herd was pretty noisy the week before season - I even got to watch two mature bulls fight each other.
I haven't heard so much as a cow mew since the opener. I was out for four days straight and (thankfully) was within earshot of plenty of elk. Still looking for that spike though...
