I've heard through a few sources that enforcement will be strong this weekend.
Trespassing
Riding ATV-SXS Behind locked gates
Hunter check stations
Deer decoys-whitetail or muledeer
Knowing your GMU-And the rules for it.
When you think no one's watching be aware someone is.
These and many more are on the table.
Just thought I would put it out there that enforcement will be out there.
Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
Wishing everybody a safe-legal opening weekend-With Harvest. :hello:
-
Why the warning for all of us law abiding hunters?
-
I would assume every warden they can get works every opener the same as every other year.

An ethical hunter will act the same irregardless of whether someone is watching or not. This is a good reminder but everything mentioned should be followed every time one of us steps into the woods.
Good luck out there!
-
I agree, they will probably have the same amount of wardens out just like in the past.
-
So is it “OK” to shoot two points? Asking for a friend.
-
This is great news! I hope they cite everyone they can for driving a ATV or SxS behind any locked gate! I hope anyone dumb enough to shoot a decoy gets a ticket! Sounds like it might be a rough weekend for some slob hunters!
-
I just wish they could get a few of the monkey lickers that think its cool to pitch beer cans all over the roads :bash:
-
Interesting. I don't think the vast majority here need any warning at all.
Reminders....for sure. Take your tags, ammo, gun... make sure they all match! After that cash or credit can get you most things and when in doubt you make come back to camp sans socks or shirtsleeves!
-
Great to hear. WA needs good enforcement.
Even if there was zero enforcement this weekend, I'd recommend doing all those safe/legal things anyways :P

I see what you did there. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Tell your friend that there’s a guy on HW that can give first hand experience of that action.😉

And make sure he doesn't shoot said two point with a gun he really cares about. Any old beater will do the trick

I actually watched this happen and the guys walked.

I've seen the same thing and found several two points left over the years in the sage. Shame, know what you're shooting at.

I've seen this happen on a doe hunt. Guy accidentally shot a small forky. The game warden at the time said his policy if it's above the ears he writes a ticket and if it's below the ears he writes a warning. I wouldn't consider that a universal policy but it seemed pretty fair to me.
-
Never hurts to remind folks. Good luck to all!

They literally couldn't get to all the violations that occur by 0800 opening morning...actually scratch that...I'd bet there's 100:1 ratio trespassing violations by 0600 to every officer out there. Good times.
-
Sad but true.
At least 3 trucks drove the non-green dot road my son hunted down opening morning of elk muzzleloader.
Lots of great people out there.
Sadly, lots ofnslobs, too.
-
Did they hire more warden's? If not, how would this year's opener be any different than last?
-
It’s about time.!!!
-
With the high number of hunters on opening day, technology the way it is and limited ground to hunt people are crazy if they think odds are high that nobody sees what they are doing.
It's what you do when nobody is watching that shows your character not what you do when you know someone is watching.
-
Maybe they have off duty sheriffs deputy’s backing them up like they have them finding the domestic sheep with the bighorns. Like was already said I’m sure all are out every opener. I’m sure they will catch some guys making bad judgements or seizing the opportunity that they game wardens put in front of them, unfortunately probably won’t catch any of the mass thrill killers who cause most of the problems. I’m guessing they stay home during season, so maybe they should be out tonight and tomorrow looking for the big law breakers

There will be plenty of violations even before legal hunting time... There is always one shot, then another, then about 100.

Careful what you ask for, @Zardoz will have a meme up shortly...

Can we get a Hunt WA t-shirt that says “what the hell is a monkey licker?”
-
"Come on man!" We know that the laws are systematically unjust. Shoot only one deer, no trespassing, these laws create so much severe emotional distress that it is unhealthy to abide.
Sarcasm of course folks. Enjoy the hunt, be safe, and don't let the maggots ruin the orchard
-

We pick up the cans on the side of the road and throw them in the back of the truck to be recycled later, we call these "Karma Cans". Might be superstitious but we always seem to have a good hunt and clean the hills up at the same time. Good Luck all!
-
I believe all non enforcement starts furlough tomorrow. Rolled people over to enforcement side to up numbers

Odd where we hunt we don’t see that at all.🤔

That is odd. Let me find one of my gold stars.
