I’m shocked how that poor guy survive.
-
Holy....... :yike:

:yike:

That is insane.
Where is that video from?
I feel like it almost looks like someone started to skin it and remove the backstraps and it was still alive, jumped up and ran away.
-
I'm trying to figure out what the heck happened :dunno:
-
I don’t have back story or location.
-
Phew that's nasty. Amazingly tough animals. Had to have been clipped by a car, or run over by a combine or something. Lot of deer get chewed to pieces in combines every year.
-
Oh wow. Shoulder blade rising up out of the wound? I wonder if it was hit by a car and was unconscious when someone tried to remove the backstrap.
-
That is insane! Those animals are tough!!!! :yike:

Blows my mind
It looks very clean. Does look like someone started to remove the back straps and it took off.
That is the wildest thing that I have ever seen
-
i read somewhere is was bedded in a field and got nailed by a combine
-
I keep seeing this. Appear to be missing a backstrap. Not breathing strange, not limping at all. And no blood on the hide? My vote is some fancy video editing. :dunno:

That would be my guess too. How it didn't bleed out is beyond me
-
OMG. I've seen some crazy stuff but nothing quite like that; poor critter.
-
Im no muscle doctor, but I'm guessing a deer missing a backstrap most likely couldn't walk let alone without a limp. Pretty entertaining video though!
-
Wow that's crazy! :dunno:

That showed up on Rokslide awhile back. Some are saying video editing and some say farm machinery :dunno:

I don't think the backstrap is missing. Looks like some of it tore free, but it's still intact. Looks like he got chopped open by a combine to me. :dunno:

I agree. The meat looks dark from exposure, but I don't see the side of the spine like I'd expect if the loin was filleted off.
-
Look at the buck's mouth and notice his work of breathing. It looks real to me and looks like he is struggling.

somewhere i read they thought it got caught in a combine harvester... that deer is not long for this world...

After looking closer, you're right, its not missing although it looks like its mostly separated from the top of the spine.

Yup - viral and most are saying combine got it, seems most likely.
I've gotten fawns before, farm machinery can do terrible things.

Still cruising for does though... :o

Upon further reflection the combine idea makes the most sense to me. It's like the conditions were perfect in that the deer didn't get too severely bitten (as in, an immediate mortal wound). Looks like when he got chopped there must have been enough space and he was probably getting on his feet when he got sliced but he got just far enough away to only lose his hide and a bit of muscle. It looks like a pretty clean cut. Back strap does appear intact.
