My son and I were elk hunting in the Colockum Saturday for the opener of spike season. We walked a canyon glassing as we went. While using the binos, we heard a few rocks falling above us. We figured, maybe a deer or elk was slipping out. NOPE! Two LIONS! Not sure how we got in so close to those things. They took of like rockets out away from us. One lion, a bit larger than the other. Whoa, that was kinda neat, but a bit hair-raising too! We figured we would slip out the way we came, as we were not interested in becoming large breed meow-mix. Well, we were making plans to head out when we began hearing a short, squealy, "Bark" up off behind us a bit. Maybe a 3rd lion, cub? We decided we were not going back that way, we pressed forward and got up and out off that slope at the next convenient spot.

Very cool, no tag?

Always cats up there. Shoot next time

Son had a lion tag, but they did not give quite enough time to try for one. They can sure move! So precise and effortless as they ran down through. They sure use their tails a lot for balance and stability as they run. Impressive animals.

Neat story! Wish your son had got a shot off!
Very possible you broke up a Mamma and two cubs, then the calling was to get back together.
