Just wondering how many people hunt this unit. I've been thinking of getting the second elk tag and giving it a shot. Looks like the season for that unit ends in January.

A bunch! And just because they're master hunters doesn't mean they're all masters! There's just as many driving the roads searching for the "low hanging fruit"!
-
I thought most of this was private Land.
-
Most of it is. The public land is pretty crowded.

I have hunted it for years, I would make plans for more than one trip and bang on a bunch of doors. 90% of the landowners in the area would just as soon see every last elk in the valley killed.....discreetly. Permission in that area is way easier to acuire after the season closes for the general.

I could use a pointer or two on a decent starting point. Shoot me a PM if possible. I live in Puyallup so more than one scouting trip could be a problem. Especially since gas is darn near 4 bucks a gallon.
Thanks

The best thing for this area in my opinion in to spend some time talking to landowners. Many of the people i have spoke with in both 3911 and 3912 are very helpfull and are willing to call when they have problem elk if you leave them your information. Many people are looking for public land to hunt and there is some but thats not what this hunt was set up for (IMHO). Don't forget to offer to help out fixing fence or herding elk back through one of those one way gate dohickeys if there is one close by. By helping the farmers keep the elk off there land they will be more likely to call you the next time they have a problem. This program was set up to improve landowner/hunter relashinships and to give landowners a tool to remove problem elk and deer. Do you part and you will be rewarded with meat in the freezer.

Ive shot 2 elk in the last 3 years up there. I need to get back up there and find a couple more spots to hunt.

I think I scored. Remembered I knew someone that worked and hunted in that area. Hopefully this will help out. Dont know how many elk are in there in December or January.
