Ran across this track in the field, we've seen cougar in the area over the years but never seen a wolf although they're supposedly a few miles away. Never hunted for any form of predator beyond coyote so I am not good at identifying their tracks.
Track seemed huge for a cat, ~5-1/4" long and ~3-1/4" wide roughly taped. Long gait and the tracks only ever landed near each other when it appeared to stop. I was in the area of this track for several days and never heard any howling beyond coyote.
If it's a cat, I assume it's a big one and worth going back out to look for...
Thanks for any input!

def. canine.

I’d call that a Cougar. It’s way too rounded to be a wolf.

It looks like there are claw marks, if so, canine
