Title: Wyoming Mule Deer Migration

Really brings out the question of whether or not Wa. is doing enough to slow the decline, maintain current levels, or see growth. Mule deer efforts are back burner in favor of wolves. :twocents:

I look at the Swakane area every year and see the development going up and screwing up the migration and winter range. Less deer. It is sad. I have been bow hunting up there for 20 years.

Post by: opdinkslayer on November 26, 2020, 07:40:27 PM: Good video with lots of interesting facts about an amazing deer herd in an amazing place. Biologist Gary Fralick in the video checked my deer at the Alpine check station this year. Did not know he was in charge of the herd at that time but he did say the 16-17 winter kill could turn out to be the worst since the famed 92-93 die off. Hope they bounce back quickly.

Post by: cem3434 on November 30, 2020, 06:57:37 AM: Good video and worth watching, but I'm blown away as to why they would pinpoint certain areas like that. I have a feeling that unit G will be harder to draw next year and the area around Crow Lakes will be a little busier than normal.

I wonder how many out of state guys have been collecting points for years with no real plan other than they are going to hunt Wyoming someday.

Secrets in G are few & far between these days. There were 25+ rigs at the Strawberry creek trailhead this past season. :o
