Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. I would like to buy a compass steer bow mount motor, with key fob and without the need for depth finder connectivity. Thank You
-
Minnkota Ipilot 😉🥃🇺🇸
-
Several new options for you like the Garmin or Lowrance, but I'd stick with the Minnkota recommendation. I run a 36v Motorguide and it has a ton of power, but specifically for walleye type fishing, I'd rather have a Minnkota. :twocents:
-
Really depends on your rig...but from what you are describing, check out the MinnKota Terrova. That should suit your needs just fine and comes in 24v and 36v and varying shaft lenghts.

This one is still for sale.

I would never fish without a minnkota again. I have the 24v 80lb on a 16.5’ smokercraft and its perfect. They are becoming very popular. I use it for everything.

I second this or it might thirds it by now. Terrova with the I pilot, just do it. Got mine on a 21' Boulton, love it!
-
Lots of good luck with the offerings from Minn Kota.
-
I'm not sure how we even caught fish before ipilot. Seriously you will spend a lot more time fishing than messing around trying to steer your boat and rig or bait up at the same time.
-
some cool new options out there but the Terrova/I-Pilot combo is solid. Been using for walleye for some time. Fishing 4 rods off two downriggers in crowded sockeye water with young and newbs on the boat, the Terrova actually makes it enjoyable.

Spot lock is awesome as well. Lock up on a deep school of perch, or some Lakers in Chelan. Bye-bye marker buoys!

My favorite feature. Forget about needing anchors when bobber fishing or plunking. Set, fish, move, repeat as needed.
-
I have the Ultera on my 27: Jama. The auto deploy is the real deal. I can unhook my boat, back down, hit the brakes and hit the remote. It will deploy, I can steer it away from the ramp anchor it and go park my truck. Head to the dock and retrieve my boat with my remote. The spot lock works great and the 36 volt motor at 112 lbs of thrust has plenty of power for a 10' wide, 27' long boat even on windy days. Lock the 9.9 straight and use the auto pilot mode to steer the front of the boat
-
Now you know this only works if you turn the power to the motor on first.... :yike: I have the ulterra also.
-
Very good point. Sounds like a voice of experience
-
That and DO NOT leave the batteries in the $100 remote for your Terrova. Did that this winter with it facing down so all the juice went into the circuitry. Oops.
I upgraded everything on my boat a few years ago and have often said if I could go back and could only do one thing it would be the minn Kota Terrova trolling motor with I-Pilot.
Actually I would do the Riptide Terrova for saltwater on a removable mount to swap between boats.
-
Want I'm ulltera on my 17ft alumaweld, anyone have fabricating done to mount? After fishing with a guy the has the ulltera I'm sold on them. Spot lock is the best
-
I originally had mine mounted In My Leelock mount. I made a bracket that mounts to the side now so I can use my anchor as well and not switch it out
-
More pics
-
More pics coming. I have poor cell service.
-
Another one
-
I also used the MKR26 plug. So nice I also switched all of my downriggers to the same plug

Those poor people in your boat look miserable! They are having such a horrible experience their faces are twisted up into big smiles! Shame! Shame!
:chuckle: :chuckle:
-
That was a fill the boat with shrimp day and turn over 500 back
-
I just bought the Terrova with I-Pilot that includes the Spot Lock. They are on back order so it will be at least the end of the month before it ships. Can't wait to try it out.

I have purchased several bow mounts here. I currently have a 112 Ulterra and like it alot. The Terrova is also a great bow mount.
-
Are you interested in more pics of the side mount?

I like the side mount,my Stryker is a 98,now it would be considered a talon.i would like to still have use of my anchor system
-
It works very well. Never in the way. Where are you located

Eastside,Wilbur

Do you need anymore pics of the mount or any questions?

problem with mine,is it's a 98 stryker, which is considered a talon, very little room on bow plate and in the center is a welded rope slide and cleat behind that..once I get the ulltera I'll have to go from there...
-
🤫🤫🤫🤫 I grinded mine off. If your bow plate can support the plate your golden. Anchor caddie would work as your anchor nest/cleat/Rope lock. It works really well for me. I have no complaints. Good luck😉🥃🇺🇸

I'm going to have a larger plate welded across the bow. My batteries under that, then mount the puck for the ulltera and anchor system. I'm going to make it simple to remove everything so when catfishing I'm ready, and I might try surgeon up the columbia.

Nice 😉🥃🇺🇸

The minnkota spotlock can work very well for sturgeon.
-
I wish mine was a Terrova, I've got the Motorguide Xi5 with all the gps stuff. the minnkota seems way more user friendly, not to mention the minnkota remote has a digital display that tells you what speed settings and such you are using
-
Ordered everything I need, puck, motor mount, anchor mount, and anchor caddie. Ulltera is on the way. I'm feeling like a kid on Christmas eve..

Or at least leave it laying face up! Batt juice leaked down into the circuit board.
And has been stated, once you get used to it you will love it.

Remember if the remote ever starts acting up and not working right. Take the battery out flip it over, put it back in, take it out again and put it back in the correct way. This resets the circuit board or something like that. I find mine gets screwy every now and then.

I used Slip no More or some such outdoor paint with aggregate in it. about $45 dollars for a gallon on Amazon and it worked great EDIT... price went up https://www.amazon.com/Evercoat-853-Skid-No-More-Rubberized-Non-Skid/dp/B000N9M3PS/ref=sr_1_29?dchild=1&keywords=Slip+no+more+floor+paint&qid=1615828464&sr=8-29

Riptide Terrova’s are on hold every where. Called and ordered one from Englund Marine as they checked and they had four coming in. Aaaaaand they got backordered.
Got to mod the deck for it anyway and it is not done yet.

Took my boat out the other day. This is how I have it set up with the bow mount. Rasbo your gonna love yours as well.

Done, took it out and played with it... gee sounds dirty lol I did get excited playing with it...

Outstanding! Perfect timming get some😉🥃🇺🇸

OK Raz. Your quality of fishing just went up a couple notches
The only thing that will force you off the water now is a dead trolling motor battery.

What's the story on electric motors?? Can't find one anywhere. Cabelas won't even take an order and then back order it. Can't even find anything on Craigslist. Minn kotas or Motor guide doesn't matter..... they are all out of stock.
-
Almost impossible to find right now. I just upgraded from a Minn Kota 55lb Powerdrive 54in to a Terrova I-Pilot 80 and it took 4 months plus to receive it. If you are interested in the Powerdrive I would make you a great deal cause I will never use it again. It works great and I just bought a new $125 foot pedal for it.
I will be headed your direction to Banks Lake fishing from May 14th to 25th staying at Steamboat and could bring it with me if you want to check it out? It is only a 55lb thrust but might get you by until more are available?
-
Hey, thanks for the offer. I have a foot control Minn Kota on my new boat but want to upgrade to one of the wireless models. Has to be 70 or 80 lb thrust. Should have swapped the Motor Guide wireless off the boat I just sold.
-
I’m gonna replace my Motorguide XI5 with the ulterra this week. Might get some other new stuff too. Might as well spend it so the govt doesn’t take it some how
-
Nice
Been kicking the can around for a new 80lb ipilot Terrova. The 55lb is working just want more juice up front. Then I see the cost :yike: and say 55 still works
-
I LOVE my 80lb. Terrova. That was one of thee best investments for our boat. Since I’m up front operating the electric motor I have more fishing time with with the anchor button. I really liked it on the slow moving rivers/reservoirs. We’d hit a hot smallmouth pocket and the anchor would hold us nicely in one spot until we were ready to moved again. The auto pilot is great too.

I haven’t yet, hopefully tomorrow

Now you guys have me thinking about fishing. I was planning on upgrading to a more family-friendly boat, but that's not going to happen for a few years. So I'm looking for a trolling motor for a 16' sled that will mainly be used in Eastern WA lakes. Will a 12 volt 55 lbs be enough or am I going to wish I had more? Also what length of shaft should I be looking for. Here's the boat:
-
I have a 45lb edge on the front of my 1754 Grizzly. Plenty of power, even in the wind. I would think a 55lb would do well on that 16'.
-
minnkota rates 2lbs of thrust for every 100lbs

Thank you for the replies. Time to start the search for a 45 or 55 lbs minn kota.
