Thieves got in my truck today. Stole brand new in reach gps week old, Leica 2700, vortex razor bingos, leupold binos and the keys to work truck, personal truck and keys to house. So new locks on house both trucks going in for new ignitions and a freaked out wife. Just an FYI if your thinking of hunting pump house ice is 2” thick. Another rig was vandalized and got snow boards and skiing equipment. Just a lovely day. :IBCOOL:

Saw a post on facebook about theft out there today. Sucks to hear, sorry you gotta deal with it
-
That’s the worst..

Sucks could be the same group that broke into a bunch of rigs out hunting up here the end of NOV.
-
Man that sucks. I think homeowners insurance can possibly extend to cover items in your vehicle hopefully that apply to you
-
Sucks
Don’t leave chit in your truck you can’t live without
Anywhere
-
Homeowners insurance :tup:truck towed to be fixed  aaskholes
-
Cannot leave anything in your vehicle down there valuable or not.... Ever.
Sucks it happened to you. You're not the first nor the last. The drunk/tweaked out indians and Mexicans down there have really gotten bold on what they try to get away with. Just ask the good guys who live down there about it.
-
I believe your inreach can be traced if you have registered it.

Wouldn't that be a fun hunt?
-
Robbins unit or Pump House?
-
It's the worst I have seen for break in's. I have not been hunting one of my typical spots as rigs are getting broke into weekly this season. I don't know if the cops are even taking them in if caught due to covid. Probably a ticket on the spot if caught.
I saw your wifes post on FB as well. At least I assume it's your wife as she was pretty much spot on with the report other than all Swarowski optics stolen. :chuckle:

10 years ago I hired a guy to do some work for me. He lived in Zillah. He made the comment that his father one night had a drunk native jump in the truck with him when stopped at a stop light...he also said that in the spring, that if you had to go out in the orchard to get a wind machine going or light smudge pots, you best be armed as someone might jump you. The place he ended up buying was a marijuana processing house. Said there was a conveyer belt going up and down the stairs. Talked about how there are some small farms that are owned by mexican gangs.
Bought a tractor from another guy in Zillah. He said having a gate across your driveway was mandatory.
So yeah, sounds awesome. :o

This problem exists almost everywhere. Last week, bird hunting along the Okanogan river, a car load of Mexicans pulled up to my truck and one of them got out and started looking in the windows. He was very surprised when I fired off a round from about 100 yards away! Surprised at how fast he jumped in the car and headed south! From now on, I will put up a trail cam anywhere I park to hunt or fish.

The problem exsists everywhere but the lower valley is a league of its own. :twocents:

Sunnyside is horrible as well. Every open space of ecology block and road signs are covered in gang tags. Never had a rig broken into but we don't hunt there anymore because of it. If we decide to go back, I may just use my truck as bait and take out some local vermin. :hello: :chuckle:
-
Maybe someone could set up a ground blind and park a “bait truck”. Work in teams of two or three with paintball guns loaded with frozen paintballs.
-
Trade the paint ball guns for .28 Nosler, and go.

I would sure like to see a Dbag get caught in the act just to watch them get beat like a drum. I HATE THIEVES :bash:
-
The thing is these guys or gal or whatever they are seem to getting some pretty expensive items. Would be nice to catch them and go to their house or tent and see what else they can nail them on.
-
I am not going to stereotype anyone because I have just as many Caucasian tweeters as the next. I do have a plan

I think sportsman need to come up with a way to monitor these parking area's ourselves. I am not talking about laying in ambush and jumping a guy/gal breaking into a car, but more of a visible presence.
I am talking about the more common area's where this happens all the time. Just someone being there, physically visible, would deter most all of the smash and grabs.
Sadly- confronting thieves will more than likely get the good guy in trouble.
I don't know how, but something needs to change. Thieves suck, but literally nothing happens to them if they get caught.

See reply #17. There's your answer.

I've always thought this would be a good idea, have some kind of volunteer sign up, even just a couple hours a day each would help a lot.

I agree. Maybe a good thing for Master Hunters to do as well?
Wouldn't be able to do it everywhere for sure- but there are more than a hand full of lots/boat ramps that this stuff happens at all of the time.
-
I think this sounds like a great way to extend your season if you fill your tags early. I think they should give you bonus points if you bust a tweaker in the act of committing a crime against someone while they are hunting or fishing. I sure hope I never catch anybody breaking into my stuff especially while I’m hunting. I fear the lives of everyone involved would change drastically.
-
Don't always assume it's a "tweeker". It could be a gang member who is better armed than you and EAGER to prove his machismo in the worst way.
-
By the sounds of many of these comments folks are getting a little tired of the scumbags out there. Bad boys may want to watch out when some good ol boys show up. :dunno:
-
The Headquarters unit has some cameras for the main boat launch and parking area on fir island Skagit County. It has seemednto reduce the theft considerably.

Sorry about your truck. It has been bad everywhere in Yakima and Kittitas this year. Non-stop theft and vandalism.
-
Any problems at the LT Murray above Selah? Going to Yakima and was thinking about looking for a pheasant there but I noticed gang tags out there last year ( Dodger blue )
-
My truck got busted into last month at the langus riverfront park boat launch in everett, they stole my light bar off of my truck as well, surprised when I got back I still had a trailer, haha. Wish i would’ve pulled back in while they were there....

We all say we want to catch them in the act but I honestly don’t. Like I’ve said on here before I’m gonna be so infuriated I guarantee I’m flat out killing that piece of crap the first twitch he makes and probably spending 6+ years in jail for defending my own property. But yes I would like to catch one and have them follow all of my orders while I have them at gunpoint. Sure would be nice if the police would do maybe even more than just give them a ticket and send them on his way to break into the next one. There really is no punishment so they’re just gonna keep doing it. Just like your dog crapping in the house if you don’t shove his nose in it. We need to start a petition to start chopping hands off again. Yeah I believe everyone deserves a second chance that’s why they have two hands

Yakima is an All American City, twice and has a sister city in Mexico.
Not enough lipstick in the world to make that pig pretty..

All I'm losing is truck crap and some glass if they break in again to my truck

:yeah: yakima is definitely a dive but let's not act like this stuff doesn't happen a lot more often than other places. If anything it seems a lot more common on the west side of the state. Don't leave stuff in your car and it won't get stolen. Hell I don't even have change in the ash tray. Lived in Yakima my entire life, and knock on wood my rigs have never been messed with, even down in the valley. With that said, I won't hunt down in the lower valley anymore for this exact reason. Too many dirt bags.
-
The west side is just as bad. My buddy thought he had everything figured out where he left NOTHING in his truck and left the doors unlocked. Someone took his jack and floor mats.
-
In regards to reply 17 hard to do ballistics test on buckshot or bird shot.

According to state statistics, Yakima property crime rate is 50.32% higher than the State average. Most car prowls and minor property crimes aren't even reported as you have to go to the police dept or online to even report.
According to the insurance adjuster who handled my break-in, Yakima County is the worst by far for claims.

I had a holes steal my bologna sandwich and a chocolate milk out of my cooler in the bed of the truck
And a *censored* in an ugly Seahawks aqua colored Ford with matching canopy bust in my wing window steal my pack over near Chimacum
Good thing I didn't get to the truck before he got away
But I still watch for him
-
I had a guy steal a 15 year old MRE from under my seat once. He also ate one of my wife's Fiber One bars, I think we got the last laugh on that one my friend. Fairly sure it was a homeless person, didn't steal tools but emptied them out and took the tool bag.
-
I grew up in Yakima, never had a rig broken into hunting, in town is a different story. One disturbing thing I’ve noticed is the gang tags out in hunting areas , LT , Yakima River, Wenas, and Cowiche units. They seem to have shooting ranges set up
-
Go out the Sheep Company road to the first shooting area. You'll enjoy some of your non-typicals trying to hip shoot Kalashnikovs.
-
I hear you, last year I watched a Dodger blue Escalade roll up to the Sheep Co range, surprised it didn’t loose the oil pan. They put on quite the show, not sure if they hit anything....

There’s a locale native that drives around bingen wa with that truck.

I'm sorry, but I laughed a little.
Floor mats???
"Dang! Nothing to steal! Well, I gotta take SOMETHING, keep my badboy loser criminal rep up with my chick....hmmmm, Floormats! Yes! Score!" :o
-
I had a truck stolen and recovered. They took the floor mats and everything that wasn’t bolted down including my dirty socks and underwear I had behind the seat. Who steals dirty clothes? But then again my definition of dirty and theirs may differ.

Are we just going to ignore this part?

Yup
Need to get a laundry bag bud :chuckle:

Hunted outside of Toppenish last weekend and heard about a bad burglary involving an elderly lady and her daughter, thugs kicked in the door and ransacked the place, even took jewelry off the ladies hands. Dark colored samurai or sidekick type rig. Sitting in the clubhouse that night, one guy comes in and says someone’s walking the road out front and a rig driving real slow, so look out. I jumped in the truck and went out to talk to them and they seemed legit, car stuck in the ditch so guy was showing up to help :dunno:
Seems the place has went downhill drastically, it’s sad to see for sure.
