whats the general opinion on flocked decoys? seem to me like they are expensive but might give a small edge over painted decoys. ive never hunted with them, although i did just order a 6 pack of GHG full body fully flocked mallard dekes that should be here next week... i thought id give em a try in some of the field hunt spots.
i started looking around and i saw that they also offer flocking kits for DIY in the off season and im tempted to freshen up my decoys with flocking over the summer when the weather is paint friendly outside but seems like a lot of work
does flocking make much of a difference? i mean i think they look a lot better than standard decoys but do the ducks? do they offer up any advantage?

I do not use flocked duck decoys.
I do flock the heads of my canada goose decoys and I think that makes a very big difference (only if you keep them clean). Flocking goose heads is something I usually have to redo about every two years. I wouldn't want to have to deal with flocked bodies of ducks being faded and scruffed up. My .02

I personally think they make a difference. Less shine and they just look better from a distance to me. If you don’t have many put the ones you have where you think the ducks will be looking as they finish.

If you can take good care of your decoys and not be too rough in handling/transporting them then fully flocked can be great. I personally would not buy any FF floating decoys due to the general conditions they get used in, ice, mud, snow etc. Once the flocking starts to get damaged the decoys lose their look and value pretty quick. Goose necks aren't bad to reflock, I would not want to do duck bodies though. One other thing about all FF decoys, when you brush accumulated snow off of them, field or floating, it wears pretty heavy on the flocking. I have about a dozen full body geese that look pretty rough on the backs from cleaning snow off.

well good to know if i ever have the opportunity to hunt in the snow. logistically for me duck/goose hunting is an absolute nightmare but i love doing it so ill worry about that when and if it ever happens
