Not exactly true. They are worth something. Just don't shoot or trap them before prime. You may not get 100.00 dollar bill for one like in Montana or Alberta at a fur auction. I like waiting until last week of November hides will be prime. Some people will be worried about the guard hairs, but I don't. I have had folks look at the hides and asked if I got the coyotes in eastern WA. but I don't think they knew a lot about yotes.
Also, don't just focus on fur sales. there is a market for wall hangings. According to my newest Moyle Mink & Tannery pamphlet received two days ago getting one tanned with cost you 32.00, you charge 150.00 for it. They look great by themselves or next to a deer or elk rack. Tanning yourself is cheaper and more of a pain in the butt, but with Moyle is no hassle. This idea of wall hangings is not new. I have driven back an fourth to Alaska and a few times and Road Houses would have furs for sale and for example an untanned fox would go for 125.00. I had a traditional archery guy wanted one for a quiver. A neighbor of mine who is in to muzzle loaders gets coyote faces to make stuff out of. I once traded a fox in the round for a 410. shotgun, but that was back in the day

Find some clear cuts on the other side of the Hood Canal and try fawn distress call.

Shot a coyote tonight. Hit it at least once, tracked a blood trail for about a mile in the dark and then had to call it off and head back home. So no recovery :bash: I'm pretty sure it's down though. Was finding 2" diameter blood spots about every 100-200 feet.
Here's a link to the scope cam video. Additional details in the youtube video description.

Yeah I think you're right.

Added two more this morning. Third one got away.
First one came in solo early this AM (note the frost on him). The 243 shooting 55 gr Sierra over Varget somewhere around 3,800 fps. Broadside shot. No exit and will have to skin to find the entrance.
Second was part of a pair. That one was facing me at the shot.
Bang Flops- Like lightning, never heard the thunder. I'm liking these 55's.

Mousing around this afternoon.

Son got this last weekend

Coyotes were active at my place last night. I think a whole pack was moving through. I shot 2. (7pm and 9:30pm) Had 3 other times in the night where driveway alarms went off but I didn't get a shot. One of them I saw the coyote run away, the other two I didn't see at all.
I'll get videos uploaded soon of the two I shot. Both dead in their tracks.

Nice pics Redi and Yotehunt!

4,5 and 6 for the year. 22 Nosler Triple kill!
Shot at 125, 150 and 150-175 yards.
No mention of me sitting on my couch while you rid my surrounding property of number 2,3,4,5 and 6. Geez and to think of the good luck I bring when I stay in the house. Lol

Nice job fellas. Seeing your videos and pictures is motivating. I gotta get out there and get after them.

Amen! Nice work. Packing two guns too. Did you shoot it with the rifle?
-
Would have only been 1.5 miles but first shot little suspect haha, poked em in the ass. He spun sliding down a slope. Second shot while he was spinning caught him low and took out both back feet. Sucker still managed to get into some thick where I couldn't see to finish with the rifle. Tracked prints and blood .5 mile. Came up behind him still trying to get away and finished him off clean with the 12 guage. Sucker came in mean ready to fight. Just what I've been patiently waiting for lol
-
Cool. Got to use both guns.

Hard core coyote guy, thanks!!!

Found this Female Coyote on the edge of a Russian Olive patch next to the fence line of cows that were in a field.
Any tips for hunting coyote not next to Cows, so I’m less reliant on cow fields?
We started going once a year to help the deer, pheasant, quail, etc population numbers.

Nice video @birdshooter1189 - Just curious what type of video setup you are using?
Thanks

Thanks. It's the Megaorei 2 night vision scope recorder. I purchased on ebay for about $100 from China. Took about a month or two till it arrived (a year ago). In that video, instead of the little IR illuminator that comes with the kit, I was using a larger T50 IR illuminator. The scope it was mounted to is a Leapers 4-16x50mm. I use the Megaorei and a couple other similar nightvision setups on a few different guns. Some scopes work better than others with these kits. Some scopes have IR blocking lens coatings, which doesn't help when you are trying to pick up IR wavelengths through the scope. (I have a vortex crossfire 3-12x56 that hardly lets any IR through it)
There's a few quirks with the setup i'm using, but it works for me and it was pretty cheap.

This year, 40 seconds (or so) after I killed my buck I also killed a coyote and almost a second one. I’ve never had them keep coming in after a shot. Maybe they were responding to the grunt that made the buck charge at me? :dunno:
Between myself and my daughter we are only at 16 coyotes for the year so far. Typically we are in the 30’s by now.

I'm super new (haven't even gone out yet, just got my license) one of the biggest things I'm worried about is property. Is there anywhere on the SW side that I'm able to hunt? I'm willing to drive a couple hours north or east but just want to make sure I'm not on any spot I'm not supposed to be. Any good beginner spots too? Thanks all!

Onx would be your best friend.
DNR site map shows all stateland in the state.
Your county assesser may have a map site to check for public land.
WDFW may have a map site.
When it comes to coyote ,your just looking for public land.
Cause more than likely your gonna find coyote just about anywhere in the state on or near public land.
