Baikal .410 bore
-
Stephens Model 320 in 20ga. I love all things 20ga! My shoulder cant handle shooting a 12ga much anymore, so 20 it is! Plus I had a neighbor give me like 700 rounds of 20ga ammo!
-
Winchester SXP Longbeard edition 12 ga 3”magnum
Indian Creek Diamond .665 constriction
Federal TSS 3” 7 shot

:yeah:
But mine is a Beretta 391

This year am going archery for turkey as am hunting a friend's back yard and nearby landlocked BLM land.
But for the years that I go shotgun, these days I pack the 12ga O/U with RMC brass shells with #7 TSS18 hand loads. I hunt turkey from behind a ground fence blind so don't care that the O/U isn't camoflaged. And my TSS18 loads are only 7/8oz of shot and 1650fps.....so it feels more like shooting a 20ga than a 12ga.
If weather will be wetter, I pack the waterfowl shotgun, Browning A5, with my waterfowl TSS18 hand loads.
-
guess i should put my gun in here too - decided to drop some weight and ease up on the shoulder as i get older!

I use the same gun for waterfowl, upland, turkeys, etc.: Remington 870 Express. I wore the factory finish off over the years, so I painted it a few years back.
For turkeys, I use the Remington Super Full choke and Remington Nitro turkey ammo. I get great patterns with that combo.
-
I run an SP-10 with the Remington Nitro turkey shells, #5 shot with and Indian creek choke tube.
(That way if I miss, I'll likely scare them them to death.) Man, does it bark!

Bag of corn, 10/22 and banana clip!

Bag of corn, 10/22 and banana clip!
Best one yet.
Sometimes I just use a rock or snowballs to get them out of my yard. :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

But really my son uses a Mossberg 20 gauge pump full choke ,with 3in Winchester Turkey loads. Its a hand me down shotgun ,from my uncle that hunted Alot.Which I have great respect for ,as my dad worked out of town Alot. This uncle picked me up and took me deer hunting on opening day.First time ever hunting with his own kids and treated me as I was his own.
-
Remington 11-87 Supermag with Remington extra full turkey choke. I shoot a variety of Winchester 3 1/2” 2oz #5 shells.
-
12 beretta 3.5” with 6’s. And a pattern master extended range choke. Haven't wounded anything yet.. if I was rich I would still have a 3.5” semi 12.
-
If legal id use air rifle or the 10/22!!!! This gets it done legally everytime the daughter shoots at a tom turkey!!!
-
just setup an affinity 3 in 20 ga with a sumtoy/vortex red dot . If you are going this route, i had issues with sighting in . Maxed out the "up" adjustment on red dot and still shot way low. My "fix" was to shim the sumtoy base mount between base mount and red dot in rear, 3 thicknesses of pepsi can shim was required! base mount cut was way off.. I sent a message to sumtoy. Shoots great now with adjustability restored.. 40 yd TSS 9 pattern with a indian creek .562 is going to be deadly!
-
I use a Benelli M2 with a Vortex Red Dot
-
Mossberg 500 20ga pump, hoping the Indian Creek .555 choke tube shows up today, and topped with a Red Dot.

Curious as to what you think on the IC. I've been contemplating one for the gals 20 guage. Hard for me to not just put a Carlson's Longbeard on. I've had great patterns with those. Will yours be the TSS you use?
-
With the responses so far, I feel kinda ashamed to admit I use a single shot break action 10gauge, with 3.5" #6's. Gun by New England Arms, called the turkey pardner. Got it as my bro's best man bachelor party gift. Heavy as sin, but puts them down every time! By far the highest shot to kill ratio of any gun I own....
-
Long Fowler 12 ga o/u
Moss 500
And I am working on setting up my KSG for turkeys.
Variety is the spice. :chuckle:

I just got the IC choke tube tonight in the mail, now wait for it to quit raining to test it out. I have seen some impressive patterns with the TSS 9’s and Indian Creek chokes so we will see how it goes. I have been using a Carlson’s .575 with ok performance the IC is .555

I just use my same over/under I hunt other birds with.
It's some cheap Italian knock off.
The turkeys don't seem to mind.

* Stevens 320 12 guage
* 3" #5s
* Carlson's Long Beard XR .660 turkey choke
Or
* Hoyt Nitrum 34
* Easton Axis 5mm
* Muzzy 100 grain

I prefer my recurve or longbow and Magnus bullheads! But for shotguns it’s a bone stock Stevens 320 for me! I use it for coyotes and it’ll drop a turkey too.

Tried my hand at hydro dipping last night. Dipped my wife’s new 20ga 11-87 compact turkey gun. It turned out better than I expected.

I am shooting my Remington 11-87 super magnum. I just have my full choke in it and shoot 3 1/2" turkey loads. Works as intended to 40 yards.

Nice work 87!

No 40yd shots w/a 410 using TSS #9's?
I got kicked off of a FB Turkey group for saying 40yd shots with a 410 is going to wound a lot of Turkeys. BTW, I use a 12ga smoke pole, w/#4's or a 12 ga with 3" #6's or a 20ga w/3" #5's or archery. It all depends on what I want to walk out the backdoor with.

You sound like a "Steven's County" porch gunner.

RETIRED? Good for you when did you become a Burden on the working class. That just means you will be chasing dinosaurs more.

Tried my hand at hydro dipping last night. Dipped my wife’s new 20ga 11-87 compact turkey gun. It turned out better than I expected.
Why would you think painting your turkey gun in turkey head colors was a good idea? Besides it being what turkeys see well it’s also what hunters are looking for to shoot..
-
My setup is rusty old wall hanger.
So rusty I named it ol red.
The choke is the best part.
I call it a open modified ninja choke.
It's like a ninja ,everytime some rust flakes off I get a cool new pattern ,like a ninja star you never know which way it will fly.

No different than wearing the ceremonial horn hat.

Well I was patterning my 11-87 super mag yesterday when it decided to stop firing. No broken firing pin and no primer strikes. I tore it apart and don’t see anything out of the ordinary. I ordered a new springs kit for the trigger housing and firing pin return spring. If that doesn’t solve it then it’s time to replace this gun.

Really well done! Nice!
Since my wife got a different shotgun I took her LH 12ga Benelli Montefeltro, reversed the safety to RH and put on a set of HiViz sights.

Sweet!

I went home for Thanksgiving and haven't been back. Officially retired on 1/1/21.

Dropped you a PM

I have an 870 3.5" mag with a Strangler choke and use Federal Turkey loads. its accounted for several turkeys.
Recently acquired a Winchester SX3, still working that out as time and healing foot permits.
-
Benelli SBE2, same gun I use for all birds
Stock Full Choke tube
Remington Nitro Turkey, 3 1/2", #5s
-
My current turkey gun is the ultra-modern and high tech Winchester Model 97. I'm using Herters 2-3/4" 1-1/4oz, #5 pheasant loads, because they patterned better than anything I tried. Curious to see how they do if I get a crack at a bird this season. (https://photos.smugmug.com/Test/i-t8vfJcf/0/ef14c386/L/Model%2097-L.jpg)

I use a Mossberg® Mdl 500C 20ga 26" barrel pump; with a Wrights® SWARM™ .555" choke, loaded with Winchester® Longbeard XR® 1¼oz #6 Pb. It's a hammer to 40yds!
-
I use a Beretta 391 Xtrema with a XX-Full Comp-N-Choke and a Red dot optic shooting Winchester Double X High Velocity #5.
-
I use my Grandpas Beretta Silver Hawk 16 gauge side by side loaded with #6's. It a joy to carry in the Turkey woods. Lightweight and compact. It's probably not the best performing shotgun, but that's why I get them close! It's fun to think about all the times my grandpa carried the gun.

What is your Beretta choked, full & mod, or screw-in chokes? I took my last bird, a Rio, with my 102 year old Winchester Model 12 16gauge, full choked with #6 pheasant loads, and this was with RST 2.5" shells. I called the bird in to around 25 yards (or closer). I have an LC Smith 16ga side by side but the chokes are fixed imp. cyl & mod, so I've been reluctant to try it. I do have a new-to-me 91 year old LC Smith 12 gauge side by side that I haven't patterned yet, but I'll take it this weekend along with my regular gun to see how it goes. I really like the idea of having a choice of barrels and chokes with double triggers.
-
Salish - I believe they are cylinder/cylinder Knowing that the silver hawk is not necessarily a turkey gun, I always made a rule with myself to not shoot over 30yds. I would love to have the versatility of a side by side with full/improved cylinder but that modification won't happen on the silverhawk.
When I'm not toting the silverhawk and I'm actually trying to kill turkeys at range I use my SBEII, full choke, 3.5 inch #5/6 turkey loads.
-
Nitehawk, thanks. Understand. One of these days I plan on buying a modern gun with all the options and camo finish, but until then I'll keep on hunting with the old iron. Good luck this season.
-
Bowtech reign 7 (love hunting them with a bow)
Remington 870 20ga (if I'm gun hunting myself)
Mossberg 835 ultimag (if I'm taking someone else and may have to back them up)
-
I've been using a youth model Charles Daley 20 gauge that I got when I was 12 for like $100 at Wal-Mart. Still kicks 'em in the face just fine
-
Remington 870 2 3/4's turkey load shells, and a full turkey choke. Granted I have yet to shoot at a turkey so take mine with a grain of salt ;)
