I just logged in and bought my hunting and fishing license for 2021 so I could get my spring bear application. Went ahead and got all of my special permit applications. $350. :yike: Still have to buy the wife and kids' licenses. Daughters are 16 and 18 so no discount for them this year. I am going to be into this $1,400 this year. :bash:
-
Good lord!
-
Holy @#$#!!!! In this state, ouch!!!!
-
:bash:
-
Its a lot cheaper if you dont buy them all at the same time. :chuckle:
-
It would be nice if they would roll 1/2 of the youth points into adult categories. I only paid 1/2 price for the points but it sucks to have put in for 7 years of youth categories and now just have those points sitting there to rot.

License costs have not increased this year...yet

I'm cutting back. No combo fishing or second pole, no second deer tags, no buck deer, no antlerless deer, no discover pass. Only $287.20 Fishing license for wife. $6.00
-
Does it hurt any less if you consider it as $50 for licenses and $300 for gambling fun? :chuckle:

License costs have not increased this year...yet
So how does that work if they raise prices and I already have mine?

You already have yours doesnt affect you until you buy something else if prices change.

Is there a current bill to increase costs?
-
I'm in the same boat except my kids are still at reduced price. I'm in it 700+ and haven't purchased my wife her tags yet. It kind of makes me want to vomit every year when I purchase my tags....but then I remind myself how much time I spend in the woods each year. I bet my cost (counting tags purchases alone) is less than 5 dollars a day of actual hunting and fishing.
Kind of sad that we have to justify, in our heads, how it is cheap entertainment if we average it out per day spent afield. I really feel bad for the guys that spend 5-10 days for deer annually and pay the same amount.
I also understand most of my money goes to the "CHANCE" of drawing a 1% tag...... :bash: :bash: Just buying your deer, elk, bear, cougar tag is not that painful if you forgo all the applications for special draws.

Is there a current bill to increase costs?
Not a current bill but it's in the governor's budget request.
There's basically two ways of doing it; 1- Standalone bill specific for fishing/license fee increases, 2- Put it into the state budget bill which is hundreds of pages long and get it passed that way. #1 hasn't worked for the past few years, wouldn't be surprised if they approve it through route #2.

WDFW is finding they have made some enemies in the Leg with their behavior. Some of those hold important positions, like Chair of Ways and Means. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get it once again.

While I certainly don't disagree with you I should clarify the proposed license fee increase is not coming from WDFW but rather from Inslee. In previous years it was WDFW who pushed for the increase. This year WDFW did not ask for a license fee increase but Inslee did.

Maybe the Nigerians are pressuring him for a new source of funds to tap?

Sounds about right.

Can you buy my ‘21 stuff for me while you’re at Rick? :chuckle: Washington license & permit apps just make me cringe to do it at all anymore.

I was into it at least that amount last year. Possibly more as I purchased 3 multi-season passes. Along with a Weyerhauser pass and my duck lease.
-
I’m buying in WA, AZ, WY, and OR this year.
I now measure the cost in what I’m buying for my wife. Kitchen and bath remodel this year :chuckle:
-
$287 this last season, caught fish in the ocean, shot a masher buck, good times muzzleloader elk hunting, ducks and two limits of geese. I would say it was worth every penny.

:yeah: I'm with you Blackdog  Best money I spend every year for what I get out of it. Time spent hunting and fishing in this state with family and friends is priceless. Plus I get to fill my freezer every year with meat that is better then what you can buy. I spend so much money in gear and fuel every year that the license fees are nothing in comparison. Happy Hunting in 2021 and good luck to everyone. Turkey season is right around the corner and get out there and blast up them nasty predators in the meantime!!

:yeah: I agree with Pinetar and Blackdog. I feel like I waste money on a lot of things each year but I don't consider my licenses a waste at all. $ 115.50 for Deer, Elk, Bear, Cougar, Small Game combo plus a fishing license , crab endorsement, Special elk draw. That is a lot of outdoor recreation and harvesting for around $ 200.
