I'm in, hoping for lighting to strike twice.
-
I'm in for elk but went with the super hard to draw hunts. guess if I'm going all the way to New Mexico it's going to be for a really good hunt.
-
I'm also in, or will be... trying to wait til the very last part of the day to see if I can get the charge to show up on my next month credit card statement and avoid those financing charges...

After all of that wait... I used the wrong CC...
UGH

I'm out this year. NM was good to me last year though.
-
I知 in for deer elk and oryx
-
I'm in for sheep, deer and elk. Fingers crossed. I at least feel like I have a chance in states with no point system. Even if the odds are just as bad as other states. :chuckle:

my odds of drawing a new mexico archery elk tag are greater than drawing a quality eastside archery elk tag with 12 points
-
I'm in again and hoping for a little luck.
-
mp.hunter coerced me and I知 in for elk, deer, and Barbary sheep. The wife is in for elk and deer as well.

The boy won an out-of-state deer tag last year, which was our first experience going to NM. He killed an ordinary mule deer buck, but it was still a great hunt; one that we'll both never forget.
I too waited until the last couple of hours and ended up putting him in for Deer, Elk, Speed Goat, Oryx, Ibex, and Bighorn. 5 weeks until we find out!
-
Get on with it already I'm feeling lucky.

Does that mean you want to come hunt archery Ibex with me?
-
"Meat is not meat until it is in the pan", Remington painting, certainly applies to the Florida's. Be careful out there

I made a sweet donation to NW Fish and Wildlife, in return I got a bunch of red "Unsuccessful" notes. Ahh, the sweet feeling of philanthropy.

Swing and a miss for me :dunno:
But I only put in for sheep, so it was kinda expected :(

Yes they are as a matter of fact. A minimum of 84% of draw licenses are awarded to New Mexico residents. Up to 10% of draw licenses are awarded to residents and nonresidents applying with a New Mexico registered outfitter. This leaves 6% at the most to non resident. When MN went to allocating up to 10% of the draw to outfitters it was a game changer.

Agreed, this is the first year I have applied since the change.
I was feeling lucky. But my results are the same as before:chuckle

Well I got my first ever green in new mexico.
If anyone has ever hunter deer in 6A/6C I would love to pick your brain. Or elk hunted in there and seen some good places that hold deer.
-
nothing for me. :'(
-
Just put in for Elk, no luck. Probably a good thing considering I'm holding tags in WA, ID and MT already.
-
And now I知 0 for 5 on draws so far, and I still have three more states to go.

Got my first green light. Oryx hunt. Should be a fun one
-
Congrats on the Oryx! And to Matt (Carp) on the Deer draw also!!!
The kid drew a Mule deer tag and an Oryx also, so we get to go back to NM again this year as he won a mule deer tag/license last year.
If the stars align we'll do his deer hunt, then scout a couple of days for Oryx while waiting for the Dec season to arrive. Then hunt a week or so for his Oryx, as I'm trying to just make the drive once. It's nice the Oryx is a month-long season though.

I spent 18 days in unit 6c 2 years ago chasing elk during archery season hunted up high seen very little to no deer but the one buck I did see was a masher. I jumped him going through the timber. PM me and I can tell you about terrain and roads.

Congrats. The draw odds for 6b are almost as bad as sheep tag odds.
