After all the wildcats and big boomers I’ve come full circle and back to the tried and true trusty 300wm.
Just ordered another barrel for my vanguard action. 28” 1:8 300wm from McGowan.
Will be shooting monos. First bullets to try will be badlands super bulldozer2’s 205gr.
May try some ce lazers.
Have everything ordered minus the brake. Have not decided on which one I want. Thinking about a mbm?
Looking forward this one, should keep me busy while I peace together the 416 build.

I’ve been waiting to try out MBM’s next version with selectable top ports But still not out yet. Partial to having that option like Slayer and lil FB gen 3.
But for a 300 wm I would use stimulous $ and just get a Terminator T3 !
Is That an A3 stock?

After having more "improved" cartridges than I care to admit, still have more than I'd prefer, unless it's something that gains a significant amount when improved or I can buy formed brass from the smith that made it, like I can with one of my Terminator cartridges, I've largely lost my zest for wildcats except those that are just straight neckdowns. If I had a home range or easy place to shoot maybe it would be a little different.
With the many different bullets that are available to us now and the new powders that help squeeze the most from less I find myself being drawn more and more to cartridges I'd consider being in the middle with regard to case capacity. Maybe that's why I like the 7mm Blaser and WSM case sizes so much.
Hey, nice stock by the way.

Just a guess but I think that's a Manners T2, but that is just a guess. ;)

Also thinking about the TT terminator

I have the 4 port 2 piece Beast brake on my 338/375. I’ve been vary pleased with it.

I'm shooting the 180 gr lazers from CE. They fly great
I even tried the 214gr hammer hunters and they shot great too. Using H1000
I went with 24" 1/8twist
-
I may play with the CE’s too. Have few boxes of bulldozers ordered. H1000 is my go to!

After 17 weeks the barrel has shipped
Went with the MBM 2 peace beast 5 port

Been happy with MBM 5-port.
What contour barrel ? Barrel is back chambered and fitted to action?
-
Barrel is mounted. Contour is McGowan #5 28” 1:8
-
Got barrel mounted up and brake timed. Had just enough time to load up a few sighter’s and get scope close then put 5 more down range.
-
Little update. Had serous trouble getting this thing to shoot. Tried every bullet I had in 30 cal. Best I could get was 2 Moa and most were in the 4-5 Moa range. I was beginning to feel like the barrel was a lemon and after checking all the screws and such set it aside for a while. At first I was thinking it was barrel getting hot and walking badly as often I’d put the first 2 touching. Then it would fly every which way.
Decided to try my scope off the 243. Boom 1/2” 5 shot group with the last load I had tried with the 205gr sbd2’s.
This will be the third time that scope has been in for warranty and was replaced once.
So load work is starting over again. Least she’s good and broke in now
-
Argh darn scope issues. Thats the reason I've been switching everything to rails so I can quickly test a known scope.
At least you are back on track.

on the bright side barrels not a lemon lol. Sadly I burned through a lot of components for nothing other than break in I guess. I did find a few boxes of Berger 210gr vlds to play with. In all honesty I don’t really need to start over load work. Just see if I can find tune the load with the sbd2’s. Happy enough with 1/2 Moa. Es is 12 for 5 shots and 2960 isn’t bad for those badlands 205’s. Definitely put a hurt on my buck and hopefully another one this weekend in Montana.

Same here. Hard to beat a properly throated 1-9 or 1-8 twist .300 Win Mag with the 215 Berger’s or the 225gr ELD-M’s launched by H1000. I haven’t shot anything over 225gr. The ADG brass is great stuff. I reloaded my first batch of 50 cases 17 times before I retired them.
