Anyone hike the Mildred lakes trail in the Olympics? I plan on hiking it this summer, just curious.
-
Not a walk in the park but not bad if your in decent shape. I would plan on overnighting it. Long hike for a day trip but manageable.

Thanks for the reply, I plan on overnighting it when I go.

FYI they have changed the permit system for the OP.
-
Ya, I was wondering about the permit system. I'll have to check on that, thanks.

Did it a few years ago scouting for bears in August. It's not maintained but sees a decent amount of foot traffic. It's easy to get off track in a few places so I found it handy having a gps map downloaded (there is extraneous flagging everywhere). Didn't fish but there were a few people trying their hand at it. I don't think I'll go back there bear hunting... too many people and not enough sign. Also, topo maps make it look flat where the lakes are... it is not flat, and is fairly thick.

So its not maintained and they still want a permit to hike it? I hope this is one of those free permits you fill out at the trail head?

It's in the Mt Skokomish Wilderness, not the national park so not sure what the post about permits referred to. I can't remember if I had to attach a card to my pack

I really appreciate the replies, will definitely have to do my research before I go.
