Title: Kids ponds on the west side?
Post by: TooTallMike on March 24, 2021, 01:30:10 PM: Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone has info for a kids pond or something like that. I have a 5 and 2 year old I'd love to take out to catch some fish. Catch and release is just fine just want them to feel the tug and reel em in. Willing to travel quite a bit since locally I haven't had much luck myself. Any info is appreciated.

If you are local from tacoma to Olympia and have a private pond full of fish and are willing to let my kids fish it I have a pound of retumbo for you or can pay cash

Post by: lucky7 on March 24, 2021, 04:48:10 PM: Take a drive out to Lewis lake on jblm range. It has the cable hang on it for training. Maybe totally grown over now. Use to fish it in high school alot, good size trout and even bigger bass. Use to fish Sequalichew on North fort also and little American from shore. Good luck

No charge, we provide coffee/sodas donuts in the morning hotdogs and chips for lunch. We also provide bait and rods & reels if needed. The TSC BOD has approved purchasing additional fish to supplement the WDFW stock.

About gave the wife a heart attack when she saw me fighting one of her Koi... It REALLY did not want to let go of it! Knot finally pulled through. All good.
Not sure if there is a Koi pond close by, but it does provide a ‘feel’ at least.

Might have to recon the neighborhood and see what jumbos I can get the kiddos on.

Might even open up a guide service in the future.

Mainly looking to hit as many spot as possible this weekend into next week as I'll have my oldest with me as well. Maybe when she's with me for the summer we can do more

It's open all year, for kids, seniors and ADA folks.

Good kids lake , nice park with play toys , reastraunts, and the outlet stores for the mom to kill time. Right on I-5 , nice afternoon for sure. Have fun .

I fished those mill ponds Back in the late 60’s and early 70’s as a kid visiting grandmas house a block away.

Post by: MadMooner on March 25, 2021, 07:29:48 PM: I take my kids to Crescent lake just past Gig Harbor. They have a small public launch and its stocked pretty well.

Usually drift Berkeley gulp baits with a little split shot. Some nice crappie and some bass in there as well.

Not much shore access as it’s all private except the little launch area. It’s great for a canoe/kayak or even a tube if you don’t have a small boat.

Caught some fatty flounder and it was great because you could see they were full of eggs so we released them. Kids didnt bat an eye after knowing they were saving babies. Tomorrow is lake day. Maybe might hit black lake or lake st clair. Hoping to get on some trout or whatever may be biting.

Post by: cavemann on March 31, 2021, 10:24:20 AM: Check out Tanawax as well off Meridian (hwy 161) before eatonville. Pretty nice private dock at an RV resort. Mineral has good dock fishing as well and boat rentals. If you can get your hands on rental through JBLM, American is great for trout as well if you troll.. Or let the wind drift with about 1/2 ounce.. You'll get into some bigger fish.
