Title: Rules for lakes that aren't listed in "special rules"
Post by: jvhunter on March 28, 2021, 10:15:46 PM
I got burned for not following the specific guidelines for a specific lake a few years back, so now I always try and do my research before I cast out. However, the lake that I'm looking to hit tomorrow isn't mentioned in the special rules . should I take this to mean that I just need follow the general statewide guidance?

Yes.  From page 19:

If a freshwater area is not listed in Special Rules, follow the Statewide Freshwater Rules.

Don't forget to check emergency rules too, I don't think they often issue them for lakes but that could also get you on the wrong side of the law.

I fish occasionally and not always up on the rules and regs. I have found that using the Fish Washington App really helpful in deciphering the rules and regs. Just click on the waterbody you're interested in and it lists most of the information for dates, species, special rules, limits etc.. I believe it is updated frequently also.  :twocents:
