Hello,
I've never hunted the spring turkey on the opener, which is a Thursday this year. I've always waited until a couple of weeks later in order to avoid too many other hunters, and also for the weather to warm a little. But I've noticed in my hunts the last couple of seasons a hell of a lot less birds than usual (I hunt around Asotin). That being the case, I wonder if it would be good to go a couple of days early and compete with the rush and try to stake out some good areas. I know I should go to another locale with more birds but I really love this area I hunt. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Cliff

I hunted the Asotin years ago. Chief Joseph unit was busy on the opener but up along Asotin Creek wasn't crowded at all. Most are gone by Monday any ways. Lots of area there. I would go.
