Feeling the need to get out somewhere this weekend...
Thx
MR

I've heard mixed reports. I'll probably hit it mid week next week once I get my motor fixed.
-
Got out twice in March and got a couple each time. All less than double digits in length. Other boats I talked to report the same, a couple small fish.
Last year was my first year fishing Stevens so have never fished it in April but I have to think things are going to heat up. I hope there are some bigger fish to be found.

Thanks Stein, probably the better plan with the weather warming up...
-
Heading out sunday...black center console shed by RH.
-
I will add, there are a couple boats I remember yarding them in last year that were out again. I talked to them last time I was out and they had several in the boat.
So I guess you could say mixed reports.

First time on the lake today. Two strikes and that was it. Second time fishing for Koke’s so take my report for what it’s worth. It was cold and windy. Lots of fish on the surface though. Me and a kayaker were the only ones out there.

Thanks. Thinking of staying closer and thrashing the water on Sammamish Saturday...

Checking back in. Fished Sammamish Saturday afternoon, south 1/2, weather was choppy. Managed an 18" cut and 15" in Kok. Slow but good to be out!
-
Fished Stevens yesterday. Cold day on the water. Very little action for me, maybe a hit or two. Did catch a small rainbow with a huge yellow mark on its belly.
Lots of boats but I did not see anyone catch anything.
-
3 hours, lovely morning, saw a few big schools on the top jumping all over....not a single strike. Water temp 48.
-
Tons of fish on the surface. I felt like I was on Wicked Tuna. Most of them were pretty small.
One of the boats I saw hook up was drifting and casting lures into those groups. Not sure what they were throwing.
-
Still a bit cold. Nightime in the mid 40's later in the week after sun all day should help.

Pretty quiet, 51.7 degree water.

Almost spit coffee when I saw that! Funny! Thanks for the chuckle!

This thread needs some fish pictures.

Maybe tomorrow. Hey Stein, what depths were you fishing, so I can focus on productive depths. :chuckle:
-
I hooked 3 on the surface with the long line, nada all the way to 45'. Zippo downrigger bites at any depth.
The real key to that lake was to fish near me. My skunk aroma pushed fish to the right, to the left, in front and behind me.
I'm fairly certain a cat peed on my corn while I slept the few hours. Nothing else could possibly explain my poor performance.

Hit it both days this weekend. Saturday did pretty good, caught 8 before buggering off at 9 AM, released two that were small. Fishing pretty shallow.
Sunday was like I was fishing a different lake. None of the gear I used the day before got any love. After dumping my tackle box over the side I found some fish around 8:30 (I start at daylight). Did manage 4 kokes but again released 2. However, the strangest thing happened. I picked up two CATFISH, trolling for kokanee at around 15 feet in 100 feet of water. Both were around 16 inches and I took them home and fried them up.
Curious to hear how things are going AND to hear if anyone else has hooked catfish fishing kokes.

I've seen, while on swims, the cats moving and getting active. I did squat early yesterday but only gave it an hour or so. Was told by a pair of boats with limits, guides, that the mid am surface to 15 feet bite was either dead or on fire. Lots of jumpers. Relaxing at this second.....being 60 seconds from the launch means I'll head out in oh a few or 45 minutes or so.

I noticed a couple guide rigs were doing well. Also noticed that by the time they set the hook the fish was almost in the boat suggesting they were fishing real shallow.
Cool on the cats. They cooked up good. Might go down some night and target them.
-
Slaying them.....1st fish in an hour.
-
Appears to be a pretty good fish at least! Of the fish I have caught so far this year there almost seems to be 3 standard sizes. 12", 10.5" and then like 7" minus (which I release). Its almost down to the a 1/16th of an inch the consistency for the 12 and 10.5s.
Last year late May I got into some bigger fish (breaking off the clip, pulled line). Hope this year is the same.
-
Yup....it's a decent one. Already in mah belly.
-
Anyone out this weekend? Gonna drown some corn behind the boat tomorrow for a few hours.
-
I was out both days. Took some folks fishing for their first time so did a lot of losing Saturday. Ended with 5 total. Went out solo today and managed 8 all pretty good size. They rubbed off on me and I lost two at the boat that would have rounded out the limit.
Guide rig was slaying them in shallow water from what I could tell. Most of mine were deep.
-
Good way to start the day.
-
Cool...thx. I'll be out, drag some gear, relax.
-
Anyone been out there lately? Failed on my "First Kokanee" mission last weekend, hoping to try again despite the holiday weekend boat traffic.
-
Buddy was out Sunday. Running gear around 30 to 40 feet, Got 7 to the net.
-
 thanks, think I can get down that far...need to get downriggers!
