Title: Teanaway wolves
Post by: greenhead_killer on April 25, 2021, 09:35:00 PM
I’ve had this cam up in this spot about 5 years. Been hunting/hiking the general area for almost 20 years. Sad to see what it’s becoming. Had this cam out for 8 months. 95 pics. A normal 3 month soak produces 1500-2500 pics depending on time of year. If you all think it’s gonna get better, I think it’s gonna get a lot worse first! My buddy is a farmer in the valley here. Wdfw bio told him there are only 5 wolves in the teanaway/Colockum area. I’ve got at least ten different ones on cam on three different camera areas. Hate when they lie to us. Like we won’t find out.

Pretty sad indeed. The Teanaway herd was holding on better than most in the state. Its demise is inevitable also. wdfw really has the head up Inslee's rear

I was really hoping the locals would help take care of the problem, the state will never see it as a problem, so nothing to take care of.

family lived on the west fork of the teanaway and spotted a lactating one 8 years ago. when they called the warden they said they we not aware of any in that region. 1 month later they admitted it as the female had a collar. unless someone killed them off there has to be many many by now.

I first started getting pics in 2014 but know other have been getting them for quite a bit longer than that. I used to see herds up around the 50-60 mark, now if you can catch them in double digits, seems you’re doing well. Pretty dang sad. I have gotten a lady on a few cams that walks around with what looks like a caller and radio receiver. Must be tracking movements etc on them

If they say there are no wolves they they must be coyotes of someone's excaped pet so if they get shot nothing lost because they were never there anyway according to the tree hugging game department.

I was hunting there last year and saw the biggest wolf track I've ever seen. I didn't realize how big they could get. That unit used to hold an incredible amount of deer but there were very few tracks. And the elk were not where they used to be. A guy told me they moved off to private land to get away from all the predators. I saw one cougar, lots of cougar tracks, lots of bear tracks, and a ton of wolf tracks.
What a sad state for such an awesome unit.

Well if they say there is only 5 it sounds like you have a large coyote problem. Unfortunately large coyote pelts have no value from Washington and its best just to bury them for forest fertilizer.

I know it's been a while since this thread has gotten any action but figured I'd ass my  :twocents:. I hunted archery elk and modern deer on the Middle Fork last year and have never seen so many wolf tracks or heard so many howls in my life. A certain burned out  ridge with an active road running through it was absolutely covered in wolf tracks from top to bottom, new and old. Only saw 1 bull through the whole time I was there and he was way up high. Ironically, I saw a nice group of 9 bucks at the top of the wolf ridge. 5 were shooters and 2 were really nice Washington bucks.

The radicals in this state see them as a solution...to hunting.

Not an honest man in the bunch.  They all know there's way way more, but with their gravy job and lucrative pension on the line, you'll find no dissenters.

there has been collard wolves in the Ten. for more than 12 years. Sons in laws lived on the west branch and they were seen while horse back riding. Back then the DNR refused to comment.

agreed, I saw them for myself on Redtop.  Not sure if that is considered Teanaway, but close enough
