Not much of a story compared to some of the adventures I read on here. We live in eastern Snohomish County, have 40 acres that is bordered by state timberland, which gives us a big backyard in a very game rich environment. I have 21 apple trees and various other fruit such as plums, cherries and blueberries so seeing bear and dear on a regular basis is something that we're used to. This bear however wasn't content to just eat the fruit and keep his distance. He figured out that he could bang on the barn doors, pop the latch and slide them open to help himself to the trash cans, chicken feed and whatever else he wanted.
After about a month of chasing him off he started to get pretty aggressive, he'd face off with us before ambling away. I told my son that we might just have to shoot this guy and one day after he came home from football practice the bear wouldn't leave so he went into the house, got the 7600 30-06 and dumped him in the yard from a distance of about 15 yards. You can see in the picture that the bear is laying on mowed grass, and yes, that is a bullet hole in his eye. My son is 6'2" and goes about 260 so the bear was bigger than it looks in the picture. We usually do all of our hunting from our cabin out of Twisp or the elk camp on Chinook pass so this is the first game animal my son has taken at home.

That is a great story.  Thanks for sharing.

Your son is a big boy........my guess is that he kicks ass on the football field too. :)
