New X-bolt Hells Canyon in 270 Win all set up and ready to shoot. I always need to add about 3/4” to my rifles to get my length of pull correct. While looking into ordering a limb saver pad I learned the Nitro grind to fit butt pad is large enough I could get the extra length without a spacer. I’m using a Vari-X 3 3.5-10 that I’ve had forever mounted with Talley Light weight rings. I haven’t weighed the setup, but it sure points naturally. Now to break it in and start doing some shooting. Fortunately I’ve had good luck finding ammo lately. Eventually I may put a different scope on, but plan to stay with the moderate size. I think this is going to be a sweet hunting rifle.

Hope if shoots lights out for you. I sure like both of my HCS

Sweet!! I just got a hells canyon LR in 7mm. I’m going to put the burnt bronze VX3-HD on it so it matches! My buddy has the speed in 6.5CM, it’s a shooter.

That’s the scope I’d like to go with later and put this one back
on my old ‘06.

Sweet Guns I have one in .308 and 28 nosler. Love them both.

What’s the barrel length not including the muzzle brake?
Personally I’ll never put another Leupold scope on my rifles that is capable of dialing for range.

22”, this is an old scope (first I ever bought in the early ‘90’s) no adjustment turrets

That's a great rifle with a scope that shouldn't give you any issue. I see lots of success in your future.
I'd like one in 280 AI

I got the X Bolt Max Long Range in 7mm last year. Love it. I wanted to wait for the HC version, but after 6 months I gave up and bought the standard version (I wanted it in time to shoot it before hunting season).

It took awhile to find this one, but it probably helped that I wanted a 270

That's a great looking rifle!
What ammo are you planning on using for hunting with it?

That’s a good question. I’ve had some success finding 270 ammo lately and have some Hornady Superperformance with the 130 grain SST,Hornady American Whitetail with 130 grain Interlocks and a couple boxes of 150 grain Winchester Super X and Remington Core-Lokt.
I suspect I’ll settle on something in the 130-135 grain range. My Dad’s A-bolt shoots the Remington with the Swift Scirocco like a laser beam, so they’re under consideration also.
My experience with 270’s (mostly Brownings) is they’re a no drama, consistent shooter. That’s really what pulled me such a classic with all the cool new calibers out there.
