Bummer if those are lost, super hard to draw but any youth opportunity that goes away is not a good thing.

agreed. But that means the parent or mentors job is to find success for them. No youth should go with an un filled tag!

Probably has to do with the owner, Gary Hansen passing away a few years ago

My son had a great hunt there !  Took 7 youth points to draw.   Started building points in his first year of hunting, didn't realize til later I could of been buying points earlier in some youth categories I guess .

had nothing to do with that.  Cole is the one that started it and has ran it the whole time.  There was a mix up on it.  The bull tag will never be back because the game department said it isn’t fair to have that hunt since there isn’t a general branch tag In the Cowiche unit.

Translation, someone that hunts that unit bitched and complained that kids get to hunt but they don’t!

no the game department told him that there is no general branch bull season for elk so it wasn’t fair to give a landowner tag and a youth tag.  All of silver dollar area has a general any elk season.  Personally I think the bio (Bernie) Jeff Bernatowicz is terrible at his job as is private lands conflict manager Steve Wetzel.  When Cole started the agreement it was to be all youth tags to give more opportunity to kids becausebe honest this state is the worsting think there is for that.  He had a disagreement with Wetzel, which Steve was in the wrong and he went on a power trip.  So you can thank him for most of this.

I dealt with Cole once on my daughters hunt.  He couldn’t have been more nice, more accommodating or more willing to share info and advice.

Thanks WDFW.
