Hey all,
I am heading to Rufus Woods for the first time. Always wanted to go so am excited about this. We are staying in Coulee City. What gear should I bring? I have everything so should be prepared. I am bringing a 16” Lund with a 50hp engine. Is this good enough for covering ground on that stretch of the Columbia?
Any help, you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
If you are going to be there from next Friday (21st) to Sunday (23rd) would live to meet up with you.

Make sure thats not part of the rez. Colville is closed to non members until June.

Be very careful. That's a lot of motor for a 16 inch boat! :chuckle:

I edited the darn thing twice to change it to 16 FOOT. That little 16 inch Lund would be a screamer!

seatons grove is the only launch you can use. its about 9-10 miles to the first net pens and another mile to the next set. Bait fishing really the only thing you need is powerbait. Anchor current will pull you around down river (we used drift socks to keep from swinging if it gets breezy). Running a slider with 18" dropper to a 2-3oz ball then a 4-5' leader with bait. Drop to bottom and reel up a couple cranks and wait. Guys do well jigging, but I haven't messed with it

What’s your target species

I use to troll with standard trout gear. a willow blade flasher string, with a Double Whammy with a 1/3 nightcrawler threaded up the shank on the trailing hook. Or a Wedding Ring with nightcrawler trailer.
My boys would bank fish with bait, Power Bait, nightcrawlers, pretty much everything worked.

Go hammer them, was just out there 3 weeks ago and seen about 6-7 14-16’ boats that will be perfect!!

Thanks for the replies guys. We are going to just fish for bass on Banks this go around and try Rufus when it is not so popular.

Is Bridge Port State Park open?
We never had a over crowded fishing day on that end. And a quick run up river towards the pens, then troll back down.
Good fishing the length of Rufus Woods, no reason to join the crowds by the pens.

It's open, but not sure about getting a space.

Not so popular? Well it may never be not so popular. Going on 25 years since people found out about it. I fished it 2 weeks ago I was the only boat at second net pen. There was 1 at the first pen. You can catch fish everywhere .
