found this up in the Kelly Unit last week.

 Massive tracks.

The shells in the photo are 7mm Rem Mag and when I measured at home, shells in this position were a bit more than 6 inches across

I did some editing and the tracks were older so claw marks are hard to make out, but I think the blue circles are where the claws were.

-
				Ayup, they're in there

-
some more tracks and a ground squirrel hill that was destroyed (with tracks all around)

-
and a poor photo of a rear track

-
Musta been on the east side of the unit

-
				Kinda in the middle

-
Sure looks like a huge paw. I'd lean towards grizzly.

-
				No doubt its Grizzly

-
				No doubt its Grizzly

 Oh ya, no doubts whatsoever.

 It's grizz 100%

Wait till you come across track still seeping in water Rob.

 Pucker a bit lol

-
Sure looks like grizz, that straight line under the toes proves it.

-
give it a decade or less, they'll be moving south and all over 49 degrees north/mt spokane area. theyre working their way into washington from idaho/montana and canada

Is it weird that I kinda want to experience that?

				Good on ya!

I know there's guys with *a lot* more encounters that I on here, my closest encounter is meeting one on a corner in a road with blowdown so thick it'd be nearly impossible to get off the road and go around.

He roared super loud (I mean LOUD AF) and buggered out, but I didn't know if he was still there or not, I had no choice but go and see.

I didn't see him, think he got my wind.

I hunted his bedroom area for a few days, took hair off his scratching/territorial posts, he didn't seem to roam all that far really, figured he'd be 30 miles away, but I kept running into fresh sign.

Elk hunting sucked there, so we moved on lol

I've seen plenty off in the distance, but that was my closest encounter while not in a vehicle.

There are several in 49 already, I’ve seen trail cam pics from from friends.

In 2009 I was told about several confirmed sightings off of flowery trail by reputable source.. have not seen any in Washington myself but definitely are around

There have been grizz in that unit for years. My dad saw one, I've seen two, and a warden told me that he saw five at one time in a field in the spring one year when he was checking out a report.

Now that is a close encounter!

First bear I seen there last year was a grizzly.  It was by my camp. Seen wired trucks several times like they were watching it.

They’ve been here a very very long time.  Nothing new to NE wa.   Maybe new to Kelly area?
