Title: Anyone ever hunt PA for deer ?
Post by: Tbob on May 24, 2021, 07:40:51 AM
Hey all,
So my wife’s family live in Central PA and has 100 acres of land that I just found out I’m allowed to hunt. I called the PA wildlife Dept and I’m good to go.. just curious if anybody has hunted out there before and could offer anything of what to expect? I’ll be archery hunting. It’s near Portage PA in Blair County. Thanks for any info!!

I tried to PM you but your box is full.

Hey there,
I lived and hunted there until I turned 18 and flew the coop.  I rifle and muzzleloader hunted deer.  They are whitetail only back there.  The woods are very open compared to here.  There is a lot of farm land there also so depends on where your hunting.  Not sure what info you're looking for.

had deer camp in Orviston (Center cty). Called the "Hole In The Wall". Blair is a great county for deer. Just enough Farm land to build those racks. Pa has come a long way since inacting the 3 point rule. One of the best states for Turkey. (easterns only). Went back home to deer hunt every year since I moved away in '97. To long a plane ride for these old bones. last trip 2 years ago. Owned the camp with a partner for 42 years. Sold my share to my partners son. Many many great memories.
