Title: DIY a 100w flashlight vs. thermal coyote kill in a predator forum?
Post by: Thermal Predator Control on May 24, 2021, 09:36:04 PM
I would love to know why a flashlight gets more views than a thermal video in a hunting forum that all about coyotes.   Let’s hear these replies, I’m literally dying to know what’s wrong here..........

Probably because people already know they'll have to bend over for $3-5k worth for thermals but are curious about the viability of a flashlight as an option.

Literally dying? It will be okay, hang in there!

How about you take me hunting with one of your thermal scopes and then with a 100w flashlight and we can really understand the difference? I would be happy to use a thermal scope...purely for the sake of science and discovering the answer to this difficult question.

Also, you're located in Okanogan? I'm an Omak guy. What do you charge for a guided thermal hunt?

I sell thermal and there all not $5000.  Technology is getting better and prices are getting lower.  Take a look at the AGM 35mm Rattler for example, I sell these for $2400. I think that is a reasonable price.  This is the best bang for the buck out there right now.

I'd like to see some YouTube examples of the rattler, first I've heard of it.

What kind of lifespan do these have?  I'd love to buy one but am afraid of issues with them.   I didn't mean to sound snarkey on my original post,  but most people can relate to flashlights versus big ticket optics.  I'll be first to admit you get what you pay for.

I've killed yotes over red, green and white flashlights, and I've killed them over infrared scopes, but never thermal.

I went thermal but still use a red light when driving out of the mountains.
If I hit a set of eyes I stop and get out.

Green sucks  :sry:

Red better than white for spooking, but they still spook on red.

I've had luck keeping the white light on them for a long time, took 45 minutes one time of yotes staying way out there, then finally committing and after that the light had zero effect on them, shot 1st at 30 yards, 2nd at 100 and 3rd about the same because he made a 90 turn and came back across my line of fire

Most companies have a 3 years warranty, some are 5.  I upgrade every year or 2.  I sell them for close what I paid for them, some hold there value. As far as life span, really depends on how much you use it, how you treat it, what brand you buy.  Some companies I work with will back there products even after there warranty expires.  If any of y’all wanna chat about thermal please feel free to DM me or call.

You will kill more coyotes hunting at night with a green light than hunting daylight hours only so use it.

Regardless of color I've had responses from good to bad.
