My son drew a White River MF bull tag and he is stoked!!! He was able to get his first elk last year off a youth cow tag and now hopefully he can get his first bull! Any info anyone is willing to share would be appreciated, feel free to PM me directly if you prefer to keep any of it private.
Thanks!

Congrats to your son!

Thanks, he's looking forward to it.

A little foot work and your kid will get his first bull!

Great tag, beautiful area with plenty of elk. Som thick stuff but stay at it and like TH said, your son will have a crack at a bull elk

If they still sell the White Rive Hancock Pass...buy it...I had this tag a few years ago and basically had 2 days to hunt it due to other obligations. I did the backcountry thing for day one, in pouring rain and snow up high, and then decided to drive roads at last light. During the day didn't see a single elk (the week prior I was into bulls up high all day long and had them "figured out"...until the snow and high winds started and pushed them over the ridge and out of the unit). Then on my drive to scout/hunt the Hancock area I spotted a big 5x5 with 2 cows and while trying to figure out how to get to them I came across a small bull right off the road...with the short amount of time it was a no brainer for me and tagged out...hiked 12 miles that day, killed my bull 200 yards from my truck!

Im not sure I would buy that Hancock permit. I do not think you will need it.

I thought the same thing Crunchy...but I was surprised at the amount of people going up Norse and Boulion and all the elk had pushed over the ridge due to the high winds, it would suck to have that happen again and not have the Hancock pass, because at least then you have somewhere to go, and though it is frustrating with the tribal "hunting" in there at least his son will have a chance at a bull...and it sounds like his son is young, since he drew a youth cow tag recently. Not all kids can hike up those ridges, even the ones along the 74 road. Sucks that the Corral Pass Road is closed as it pushes a lot of people to Norse and other areas.

I don’t think they are selling the Hancock/Muckleshoot permits anymore...you know, because of COVID.

The white river hancock pass should be for sale now, I know a guy who bought one very recently. I’d buy it.

My dad had that tag a few years ago and it snowed a lot the night before it opened. The elk up high left. It wouldn't hurt to have a backup plan or three.

I bought one a couple days ago, its on sale on the hancock recreation site. That makes 2 hancock passes I bought this year wasn't expecting to draw the white river tag haha

My wife drew tag and we just bought 2 hancock passes to make sure we have as much access as possible. If you see a burgundy lifted duramax say hi, gonna start making some trips this weekend

Will do, I am in a white tacoma with toolbox and cb antenna.

I hate you guys...…. ok just kidding, damn jealous though. While your up scouting, a good place to scout for your camp spot is buck creek. I'll be camping there this weekend with some friends, maybe doing some scouting for the fun of it. :bash:

Thanks for the tip. Good chance we will be somewhere out there on Sunday looking around

My Daughter drew the MF tag this year. I drew it back in 2012 and had a blast. Spent a lot of time in that unit since 2012 hunting Bear, learned so much more and have been hoping to draw the tag again myself. Glad she's the one with a tag in her pocket now, should be a good hunt. Congrats on drawing the tag! The Dates are money!!

I also got drawn.
I bought the Hancock permit Friday 6/18.
I want to keep my options open.
Any info in addition to what has been posted would be appreciated.
PM me if you prefer.
