Title: Lyman Turbo 600 shell tumbler

Got an old Lyman tumber in a deal, and haven't seen one like it before. Pic below. 

Any ideas on what the big pan is for on top, and how to use it?  Almost looks like a gold mining pan with ridges in one side.

No lid other than this pan, got a bunch of walnut media with it.
