Just wondering if any Buddy knows if there's any big bulls in there or just raghorns
-
let me just throw out some honey holes for hard to find bulls on a public forum to a guy with 13 posts lol
welcome to the site. we enjoy sarcasm at it's finest, hope you do as well. ;)
-
btw, nice bull.
-
Dmorg, there are big bulls in all units.
-
I'd say there are a few in there that are big enough. But that's just a guess. And it depends on your definition of "big." ;)

How timely... how about someone pm'ing me some info on archery bulls in the Mudflow.
-
There is a bunch of 360 to 380 bulls in the Mudflows. It would be the best place in Washington to hunt IMO. You wont find a better area than the Margret or toutle for monster 360-380 class bulls.

OK Joking aside. What is the deal. Land access. Quality of Elk. When was the last time it was hunted? C,mon all you jokers. Post some truth. :dunno:
-
Its just as crappy as everything else around there, You'll drop in from either the Toutle side off the 3000 or a few spirs that get you down closeer to the flows or off the highway. there will be plenty of small Rag bulls to kill , thats about it. If your lucky one of them rags might have a few extra kickers to make it a 6 point. I would say a top end bull might go around 250 - 280 if your lucky, with 200 being the norm. But as in every unit , I'm sure some where at sometime there is a 300 class hiding......but I wouldnt hold my breath on that.

Thanks! I bought a westside archery tag this year I have 5 points. Guess I will not waste them on this tag. Seems to be the only tag worth a crap is the Nooksack tag. I will put in for that one only, I guess. If I draw great if I dont I have more points to apply towards a more quality E Wa. tag in the future. ;)

Photo was taken 2/05 on the Mudflow. There are 13 5x5 or better bulls in the photo. The elk winter there, so in Feb. its not hard to see lots of elk there. We saw 30-40 bulls that day. That doesn't mean they hang out like that in Sept.
-
no just spikes dont waste your time
-
There are quality bulls in there, but, as soon as the first shot is fired, the Loowit is right there, as is the Margaret and the Toutle, and the elk head for timber. That unit is so small you can almost spit across it.
Not worth the effort if you ask me. :chuckle: :chuckle:

Isn't that are closed to everyone that time of year, must of been a hell of a telephoto lens.Nice photo though.
-
In 2/05 the area wasn't closed. That rule was implemented after '05. At least that's how I recall it.
-
lots of 5 points. did i mention , lots of 5 points? :twocents:

Have never "hunted" it, as it is part of the Loowit, and has been pretty much closed since the mountain blew. We used to hunt horns there back when it was legal. There are a LOT of raghorns, and a few real hogs if you know were to look. We walked in last year to fish Castle Lake and saw one bull that was a real dandy.
