Just checked the WDFW tooth lookup site and they have the test results back. Turns out I shot a 2-year-old bear and a 15-year-old bear. The bottom teeth of the 15-year old were super worn down -- they were totally flat and had the roots exposed in all of them. What's the oldest bear anyone has harvested? Google says Black bears can live up to 30 years in the wild, but most die before they are in their early 20s.

Last years bear was 8

The bear I shot in '99 was 21.5, still have the card from WDFW hanging next to it on the wall. Picture added for pianoman. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210727/096a559a3ecdeec652a1c5d33b6f4cf4.jpg)

It's a banning offense not to post pics of the animal about which the post is written! Same with gun posts, fishing posts...and hot girlfriend posts.

15.5 is my oldest, still waiting for my last bears results.
-
Think my oldest was 13. Most have been in the 7/9 year old range.
-
What link you guys using, none of ours are popping up from last year... just old ones?
Thanks!

I shot my bear mid august last year and got age results in May. :dunno:
-
What link are you using, I just get old results?

My oldest is 7, had a buddy that harvested a 23 year old bear. If you kill a bear over 6 it’s mature for sure. My bear was 6’6” squares and over 300lbs in the spring. Skull was 19+. Head and hide were 80ish lbs and I brought out 90lbs off boned out meat. That wasn’t counting a completely missing hind quarter ( still don’t know what took that away during the night) and 5-10 lbs loss to blood shot.

Not me but my brother killed one here in WA that was 25 or 26. At the time, I believe it was one of the top 10 oldest bears ever killed in the state. This was late 80's or early 90's.

My information from last year was up a couple months ago. My oldest (2016) was 20. Youngest was a 2-year old on opening day in 2019.
FYI - I used a common sense search term on the Googler to find this:

Been using that same site to look up my results, still not available from 2020 kill.
-
That seems weird. Maybe call DFW and see if there was a batch of teeth that got sent to the lab late or the lab hasn't processed yet?

Sorry thought I attached the link but it’s the same as posted above!
-
Hmmm, that's the one I used... no moose or bear from last year on ours?
-
It just takes a while, I'll wait a bit more, no biggie.
-
Mine shows my 2020 kill when I enter my id, but the age box is blank. Does this mean they couldn't get an age on my teeth or they just have not gotten to it yet?
-
How accurate are these anyway? ~1 year?

Noticed my tooth submission wasn’t showing up. After some emails they made it sound like they were probably going to stop the program and not be doing any more tooth age research. However they said we could still send in our tooth and they would be happy to age it for us. This was for deer and elk I’m not so sure about bear and other species
