Sad story but At least he went doing what he loved. RIP
Missing hunter found dead near Randle
RANDLE, Wash. — The Lewis County sheriff's office says a missing hunter has been found dead near Randle.
Searchers found the body of the 77-year-old Lynnwood man, Claire P. Heun, about a mile from where he was last seen Thursday by his son, who was hunting with him.
The sheriff's office says there was no foul play involved in the death.

Maybe he sat down under his favorite tree closed his eyes, couldn't think of a better way.

A buddy of mine is buddies with some old timers in easter wa...they were out hunting deer this year by the Palouse...one of the old timers bagged a 5 point or something like that...called on the radio for the boys to come help out....they get there...the old feller is dead from a heart attack....could have been worse...I would take a heart attack out hunting over cancer anyday. It is too bad he went, but not much of a better way to go IMO (in my opinion). Here's to those who are in the happy hunting ground...cheers :brew:

Yep, this is the obituary line I would not mind owning....man died while hunting... I have spoken to the wife about this topic many times before, (sort of sick topic...) but we agree, you may aswell go, doing something you love.

If I have to go, that ain't a bad way! Hope he got a nice buck.
Was talking with a coworker the other day, he told me a bunch of his wifes family were hunting in Montana and one dies.
He said it "affected" them, and they haven't hunted quite the same. I told him, hell, If I'm in my upper 60's, 70's or 80's, it be a hell of a lot better than dying in a hospital all drugged up and not knowing who you are or where you are.
Had a friend die that way....had a tear in his colon, so while he was sleeping, they hooked a morphine drip up to him, and his wife just kept "hitting" it, and he never woke up, all on the advice of the doctory.
Let me tell you what, I'd have liked to wake up....at least to say bye.
I've always wanted to outlive my wife, just so's she wouldn't ever have to be alone....I just don't know if my body can hold out.
A guys got to be strong enough mentaly to know his own strengths....when its time, its time. You wait too long, your going to be put in a hospital, or a home *censored*ting yourself and not enough strength to get to the woods one last time......

My condolences to the family, but it's the way I would wanna go.

one of the old guys that hunts with us tries to convince us every year that if he passes on while hunting that year, there's a tree he wants us to leave him under. i really don't think i could ever do that, regardless of how much someone wanted me too, but damn...he'd have a nice view from that tree.

All my Relatives it seems have died ugly. By that I mean slowly, painfully in a Hospital or Nursing Home. Cancer, Strokes, Pneumonia...
I hope to die in the woods doing something I love (just not killed by a bear or the like , please)
I'm sorry for the family and this man will be in my Prayers.
But I do envy him some.
Amen.

my girlfriend thinks im gonna end up like him cuz i always end up going hunting by myself. i keep telling her its better than dying in a traffic jam.
-
jackalope, I'd tell him "you betcha". What the hell? If he dies, he won't know what you do with the body....nor realy care, he won't be there.
Where we put a body is for the living, not the dead.
I want to feed the coyotes with whats left of me.....

I've been telling my wife and friends that when I die, I want it to be out in the woods. When they find me, I want it to be right next to the big bear that I tangled with....but if not, then I want them to cremate me and take me back up to my favorite hunting area, and toss my ashes to the wind, so that I am spread all over my hunting grounds....
