17HMR. I find it is much safer to shoot in my area. Originally got it for my dad. For years he was killing coyotes with his '06, and I realized he was slinging lead into the airport. I've killed about a dozen dogs with it. Never anchors them, but they don't travel far.

Yes, Savage. I shoot CCI 17gr. and Federal 20gr.

Interesting. Most of the 17hmr I have shot or people I've talked to said they are very particular about the bullets they shoot.
