When is the season? Do you have a boat?
-
I do have a boat. Season opener September 1st thru November 30th. My first actual trip to hunt will be October 23rd thru the 30th. I also have 2 weeks off in November if needed

Congrats! Man, I can't wait to see how this unfolds for you. Very cool.

👍 it still doesn't seem real

really steep country. hope youre not afraid of heights! and in really good shape! have to use crampons to access any of it. probably even a helicopter to get the goat out if you find one you can shoot.

Haha! Real funny! 😂

I've seen plenty of goats in there. You will have a great hunt if you put the time in. Train those quads up as much as you can 8)

We finally got it done!!
This hunt will definitely go down as one of the coolest experiences in the mountains! For my anyways. So the first trip up lake was on October 23rd thru the Oct 29th. We had a good group of friends and family along for the ride. The weather on the first day was awesome! That made setting up camp really good. After camp was all set up. We just hung around and glassed the area from camp. 3am the first night was a different story! We woke up to a wind storm that tried putting every bit of camp into the lake. Lol. So needless to say not much sleep happened that night. We all had a really good time on this first attempt. But we were only able to hunt two out of the six days because of weather. We seen goats just not very many and the ones we did see were still unreachable. I did manage to shot my best buck to date on the Monday the 25th. So after 6 days of horrible weather we called it and went home on the 29th. Thanks to all the friends and family for all the help and support on that first trip!
On the second trip my good buddy "Teanawayslayer" got in touch with a few of his friends. To make another attempt at filling my tag. The four of us met at the Manson boat launch. On November 13th early morning. We had a great day and put glass on plenty of goats. One failed stock took up most of the day. That evening we found a good group of goats with at least two different Billy's! The morning of the 14th we relocated the herd right away and started hiking. At a little shy of 400 yards we finally identified a billy that presented me with a shot. Success! Once we had the billy down. He expired in a spot were I was mentally not able to get myself to go. I know I know! Why am I goat hunting when heights are definitely my week spot. I guess I never really thought I would draw the tag. Lol. This is where Chris, Logan and "Teanawayslayer" showed how true buddies will do anything for each other! While they were processing my Billy a crazy wind storm picked up! We all got to witness mother nature at its finest. It got so bad. Old growth burt timber was being snapped in half and thrown down the mountain a couple hundred yards! I pretty sure it was the scariest time in the woods! For all 4 of us. After surviving the wind and flying trees. We got back to the boat around 4pm. I just want to let everyon know that I appreciate everything that was done for me to accomplish this hunt. I got so much help and advice from the forum also. Thanks again for all the help. I made some great friends this past few months! I will post pictures soon!

Is the bottom photo Sully from Godsmack?😂🤣
Congrats!

Beautiful buck and billy. The mountains on each side of Chelan aren't too bad, only climbing to 7000', oh yeah, started at 1100', makes long days. Amazed how going up lake the terrain changes from orchards to alpine and you're still at lake level, just looking up way steeper country.

Nice work jb
-
Great buck and goat! Congrats on a successful trip!
Camping in a wind storm can definitely give you the chills. Hearing branches breaking and trees snapping is eerie. The last time we did it, we actually moved the tent under some other trees that had fallen and were hung up on other trees. Figured they would a least slow anything falling :chuckle:
-
Crazy adventure! Nice job
-
Thanks! I'm sure we'll never forget it
-
Great job man. Glad it worked out for ya. Cool to see some of the other pics too. That buck was a stud!
-
Great goat hunt. How far past 25 miles did you go? Been in the Domkey Lake area archery and fishing. Just wondering if the goats are that far
-
Awesome billy and a great write up.
HUGE CONGRATS
-
Thanks! We definitely had a great time.
We never made it past Domkey. So not to sure how much further up lake the goats run. Once mid November hit there were goats from box canyon all the way to Domkey. No shortage of goats in the area
