thats a WDFW employee too...

I don't have time to listen to it now but if someone shot at a dog because it was a hound they should face legal charges, depending on the state where it happened it likely illegal to shoot dogs or cats, I'm pretty sure it is illegal in Washington unless you are an LEO taking care of a problem. :twocents:

When you have a minute, you should listen to it. It’s a head shaker.

Wow... i listened to the podcast this evening on the way to meet someone from Craigslist. The person i met is a recently retired WDFW biologist. we had a nice chat about all things hunting and fishing, and told him about the podcast. we then talked about how much the department has changed in his lifetime. as no surprise, he agreed how much the department has changed.

:yike: so in summery
Candace the Conflict wildlife specialist shoots at a 11 month old hound that is part of a pack working for another wdfw employee. She thinks its part of the Kallispel tribes program. She misses the dog with the gun. She captures said dog. A dog that belonged to a handler she has worked with... as a conflict resolution specialist. She tells 911 she is armed and ready for conflict because she had been threatened, so send the cops. Dog has the name of the houndsmen she has worked with professionally.

How much conflict resolution work do you think she can now do? Do you think any houndsmen would answer her call? Do you think ANY houndsmen will respond anywhere near her home?
I'm of the personal opinion that Kelly
Suswind is a great director but his failing is that he has not found a way to can these folks. If you listen to the podcast, I had to several times, Buddy implies that he has information on a group of employees working in concert to thwart real predators management.

Yes, because they hold the documents from the "public information request" they have all the details. That is my take away also. i forwarded the podcast to one of the Fish and Wildlife commissioners.

All of them? Or Thornburn from your area?

Kim Thornburn will not be an advocate in this subject matter unless she takes the inappropriate use of resources. i sent it to a friend that is close to Molly Linville in Douglas County. That was a great question. i need to get it to all of them.

I wouldn't write off Thornburn. She was one of 2 comissioners that defended sportsmen against outlawing hunting contests. Pretty sure Linville didn't stand for us.

Good input. i am drafting my email to the administration as well as the commissioners. i am suggesting that the actions are unbecoming of any employee of the department.

I wouldn't interfears with your efforts but "unbecoming" is no where strong enough language.

Thorburn was listening to the podcast tonight and actually has wrote a scientific publication against Rich’s so called science behind his population density model. She is on the side of the houndsmen in WA state

I agree, and i got deeper in the body of my text, but the Unbecoming was just part of my title. i didn't want my information discredited right off the bat before digging into the whole letter i wrote.

great input on Thorburn. Thank you for sharing. Where did you get that information on her listening to the podcast? did she post on social media? or respond to someone in your circle?
Thank you for that feedback, i was judging by my interaction with her a decade ago when she was still with the Regional Health District. I guess i shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

I didn't have much hope for her as she came from a non consumptive background, some bird watching group? She has come along ways because she actually reads the mandates, laws and intent. I would make the argument she is a better advocate than Linville if you take the time to examine the votes.

I’ve downloaded the podcast but haven’t had a chance to listen yet. Does this nut bar still have a job with wdfw?

She's really good. Thorburn is smart and is a strong advocate for hunters. We should all be thankful that she's on the commission right now

Thank you Bushcraft for providing the emails.
-
Confidentiality be-damned. They are public employees and the entirety of their work belongs to the public they are supposed to be serving.
The e-mails I've just provided should shed some light on who the root of the predator [mis]management problems are inside of WDFW.
Enjoy...then demand they all get sh!t canned. Especially Rich Beausoleil and now Candace Bennett.

These emails need to be published in their own post instead of buried on the 2nd page

of all the posts on this forum, i am disappointed that this subject matter hasn't garnered more attention. we get more angry posts on natives than this subject has garnered thus far. i guess we just don't have enough people that will engage. I hope that people are out there writing letters to the commission and the administration and hopefully i shouldn't be measuring participation based on post activity on this web-site. i am glad to see the comments from several on here and pointed me in a direction of some commissioners being different personalities than i expected. The disdain between the departments of law enforcement is super frustrating. it would appear that Fish and wildlife or at least members of those groups are unwilling to work with local sheriff's departments and thus the local departments have struck out on their own.

Hard to believe that the very people hired to handle wildlife conflicts are actually hindering their own co-workers from doing their job.
She lied and obstructed justice, that alone should be enough to have her fired.
I already don't trust the WDFW, this just proves my suspicions.
-
Northwest Sportsman has an article with more details.

Yep as they always say keep your friends closer and your enemies even closer. What better way to destroy our opportunities but to get on the inside and be a part of the decision making. I sure hope they charge this lady with any and everything possible but most of all I hope she is fired. She has no respect for animals and obviously thinks she knows best even when she is uninformed on the situation at hand. Someone needs to start a petition to get her fired I will sign it

After reading the emails and listening to the podcast. This is a confirmation of what I have suggested to people for many years. The best way to promote your agenda is from the inside. Looks like the facts are true.
What if find in the emails to be odd is the "Name" Jay Shepard is signing off on wolf depredations. This person is the right hand man of Conservation Northwest. :dunno:
I'm not sure if you call for their resignation you won't just get another person with the same mindset.

Thanks for posting this story, it seemed to summarize the events well. My biggest problem with this entire situation is that a WDFW employee shot at a hound (that was doing work for WDFW) not knowing what was occurring. I don't think it matters if the employee was off work or on duty, I'm pretty sure this could have violated laws that the WDFW employee should have been knowledgeable of, which brings into question whether or not this person is fit for the job. Some questions certainly need to be answered, WDFW owes the houndsman who was performing work for them a very good explanation, as well as an explanation to the public in general!
Is this the kind of people the WDFW wants to continue employing as a conflict specialist or at all within the agency?
After reading the emails from WDFW employees in one of the other topics, knowing how Jay Sherpard and other WDFW personal have handled wildlife conflicts in my local area, knowing that Shepard isn't the first wildlife manager to go to work for anti-hunting groups, seeing the direction that conflict management has gone, it all only further confirms that too many wildlife agency employees are most likely using their positions within these agencies to advance particular agendas intent on curtailing many hunting and conflict management activities.
It really appears that WDFW is a tool being used by anti-hunters to control and diminish hunting opportunities and restrict conflict management.
-
The county needs to empanel the Grand Jury to investigate.
-
That's a hell of a podcast. Aside from the WDFW lady shooting at dogs, listen to the story at 1:27:00
WDFW needs a house cleaning. Unfortunately those employees that are a problem will likely get promoted. Same scenario happened with the lynx hair study that was tampered with several years ago.
-
Tbey wanted to GPS my snowmobile for that lynx study, I politely told the hottie college chick no.
The snowmobile club then sent out a notice that this lynx study could be used to reduce access.
I bet they didn't get much cooperation
-
bumping this thread for more attention, we need to keep the anger alive. i was involved in a coverup in 2018 where WDFW had a part time seasonal employee tree'd by wolves up north and were unwilling/denying WADNR request to launch a fireifghting helicopter to land and extricate the lady. WDFW denied this request multiple times stating they would handle it, decision was made to override WDFW a couple hours later and send the helicopter. after it was all said and done the rumor was WDFW didnt want anyone involved because the status of that pack was questionable(possibly not a confirmed pack by WDFW yet).
