I personally have never seen a droptine buck, and i would like to see some droptine bucks killed, or sheds or just pictures that you guys have taken!
-
Here's a shot of an Oregon buck with double droppers.

If that tine originates on the top of the main beam, then for scoring purposes, it's a typical point and would not negatively affect the score of your buck (aside from length difference of the matching G3).

That aint no drop tine Bone, thats what your wife calls a limp g4 :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: :chuckle:

I think the proper term for Bone's buck would be "drooptine", I found one like that last November. Nice buck, Bone. 8)

Here is my double droptine rack. I killed this big boy a few years ago on the "Yacolt Burn". He was about 300 lbs on the hoof. I am going to find a nice cape in the next couple of years and get him mounted.

I developed the 25-204 a few years back and this is the first deer ever killed with the cartridge.

Public land WI buck.

-
very nice deer and tell us a little more about that caliber. That sounds like a cool one.
-
It's a straight neck up of the 204 Ruger which is based on a Improved 222 Rem Mag case. It has about as much capacity as you can get out of small base (.378) case with out trying to find rare Euro brass (5.56x50mm) or doing alot of case forming. The 25-204 matches factory ballistics for the 250-3000 Savage which has a proven track record as a game taker. It is a little long for an AR or CZ 527.
Ballistics:
75gr-3150fps
85/87gr-3000fps
100gr-2800fps
I like the cartridge so well That I've built a 22-204 and a 6mm-204. They have turned out to be great little cartridges. There is no need for custom dies I load all three with a Redding 204 Ruger FL Bushing die just change out the bushing and expander ball, I did have to open the neck opening in the die to clear the 25 cal neck. I use Hornady seating dies in the correct bullet diameter as Hornadys seaters are pretty much universal.

-
Dang chad both you and your dads bucks are hogs. Where's the secret honey hole? :chuckle:
-
always thought a drop tine dropped off the main beam and when they come off the g-points they are kickers or stickers or cheaters or something along those lines.
not thaty it matters i guess...just thinking out loud.
-
Jeep,I didn't get any pics. but elk4me did. I have him post.

Hey, elkslayer....You ever see that guy on the hoof?
BC: Have seen that 1st buck on here before.....very cool!
Blackie or bench?...not that it matters!
Droppers are great...There's gotta be more.
-
Jager,
I saw him two times that year, once in the velvet and once in the fall during rifle season. Too bad im a archery hunter. Haven't seen him since. I got cameras up all over that area and unfortunetly I dont think he is around anymore.
-
That's too bad. You think someone got him or just passed on?
I never did see the buck that dropped the sheds that I posted.
Never found sheds before or after from him... weird. Unfortunately he is long gone by now :'(
-
Not sure what happened to him I dont think he was that old of a deer. There were three different sets of cat tracks in the area that next winter though. :dunno:
