Wasn’t able to get out last year due to a big bull tag hunt going at the same time. I haven’t been out much scouting much but those big bucks are there for the taking. Heading in on the 13th. Good luck everyone!

Hopefully some of these fires die down by then. Some rain would be nice. Anyone noticed deer moving down from the alpine areas due to the drought and lack of feed/water?

It's actually greener up high right now than it has been for the last few years in every spot I've checked up on. Seems like a great year for the herd.

Good luck to y’all headed up to the high country.

Went up scouting sunday afternoon into Monday. The deer numbers seem pretty low this year in the area I hunt. We’re only looking for two studs
-
Hell yeah. Good luck folks!!
I'll be returning to my spot in GPW. We'll see if we have the discipline this year to focus on deer or if we get distracted again by a bear :chuckle:

I will totally be distracted by bear, and I'm ok with that :chuckle:

@teanawayslayer see I’m not the only one who gets distracted by bears!!!!
-
The west side alpine seems as green as ever to me. Even though we are dry down here, these areas pick up cloud water and dew fairly regularly.
The area we bear hunt has a low concentration of blacktail, but the sign I've seen suggests that they are there like usual. Water sources are relatively scarce, but not a limiting factor for deer.
Heading back up on the 16th or 17th.

stay focused! Way easier places to kill bears lol

Was up high last weekend for archery deer. They seemed to be lacking. Not much sign. Down low we saw much more. It was green up high though, so I don't get it. Heading out for elk tonight.

Headed out here in a bit. Good luck to everyone!

I never pass on an opportunity to harvest a predator. :)
No matter what I'm hunting, if there is a bear or cougar it turns in to a predator hunt.

Good luck all!

It is looking like this year is going to be a wet one.

Glad I got my SEAK set during the sale...not that stoked about having to use it though :chuckle:
-
Seak? or Seek?
-
SEAK, it's First Lite's heavier duty rain gear. Stands for "South East Alaska" because it's supposed to be able to handle that type of weather.

Nice I thought maybe you got a new pack.
