Your thoughts?

No they can't, at least not nearly as well as say a deer.  If they had that kind of sense of smell, you'd never kill one.

Thank god they can't.  They would be impossible to hunt.

Depends on how long you leave them in the sun. :tung:

Yes they can smell according to some biologists but not very well, if you believe everything on the internet

From a guy who raises all sorts of birds.....they can be the stupidest, single minded critters on the planet.  You can stick them in from of a small fence, log or obstacle and they can't seem to think a way around it.  Just kepp running into it.   But what they have in their mind that works is survival.  They can detect the littlest of things.  Just ask my peacocks.  They can sense snakes, cats, owls, hawks and all sorts of stuff that you and I would never know.  Let alone some 6'5 guy sneaking around with a big white lens.  Their hearing, vibration detection, and site have got to be incredible.  I have a hard time getting pics of them because they can hear my lens focusing and the gears in my camera.  Its enough to send them packing.

When you have one by the neck they do

I've always wondered that, myself.  Thank goodness they can't smell well- combined with their eyes, I'd never get to put one in the smoker!

No, not to any human detection levels anyway.  It is said that if a turkey had the nose of a deer, you'd never kill one.  That may be a stretch but the point is, their sense of smell is negligible for hunting purposes.
