We’ll have blown my chances on a few Deer but today was a new one, As I was working my way quietly down an old logging road today I spotted a Deer just ahead of me and to the left about 25 yards away all I could see was from the front shoulder back. As I watched the deer feed I saw his antlers appear from the other side of the tree he was behind, a nice big ole gray faced heavy horned 2x3. As I got in position for the shot it happened the Cell Phone that is normally turned off or left in the truck rang. As I leaned over on my side to shut the damn thing off I figured he was gone but to my amazement he was there but starring right at me. He then turned and went straight into some brush below him I gave him a little time to settle down and then started to slowly work my way to where I last seen him. As I slowly moved that direction I didn’t realize there was a small depression in the land and he had moved to my right and that’s when I heard that distinctive Buck snort as I turned towards the sound he bolted like a rocket down the hill and out of sight. As I sat there thinking and shaking my head about what just happened I thought, well I guess the good thing is I’m retired and I get to go out again tomorrow and chase that wily Blacktail Buck. Cell Phone turned off and left in the truck that is.

You’re exactly right. What’s funny is usually I don’t get Cell service there. I guess that Buck has a guardian angel🤣

My old lady the other day.
What time you coming home.
Be home at 6:30 time it gets dark according to the reg book.
I get home at 6 :30 ,she says I didn't make dinner.
I'm like ok why not.
I didn't know what time you would really get home.
Then cooks dinner and it's like 8 or 9 before that's done.
So ya it's like that everywhere.
My phone is always on vibrate or no sound.

Totally amazes me. I must be old but, Who in the He!! carries a phone with them hunting ? I Don't have reception in camp, let alone out in the sticks. I can't even get reception where I fish. Half the time I don't even know where the old flip phone is or if it's still alive!!
Sorry, Just a fun jab at the younger folks or those more techy than I.
Good luck on the next one

Actually I am retired and have that flip phone as well. Put the phone in my jacket on the way out the door and forgot to leave it in the truck. And yes it got reception that’s why I had the unfortunate situation. Wife just likes me to have it just in case of an emergency.

Yep same here, I will tell her Don’t worry unless it’s well after dark and I’m not home. And then I get a call at 11:00am🤣

I just keep mine on silent 24/7. If I get a text it vibrates on my wrist through my I-watch.
