One more day and the bull tags start! I have a quality bull tag for Colockum. Been here for 9 days and have seems decent bulls but after all the archery pictures it’s hard to shoot a small one! Lol I am fortunate to have seen bulls everyday. I’ll keep at it and don’t need to fill it with a small bull if I don’t want to. I shot a smaller moose in 13’ because it was the right situation with my dad. He actually drew the colockum tag last year however passed away from cancer before he was able to go on the hunt. So the odds of me drawing it this year (with 29 points) was a crazy deal but I’m here to make him proud! This ones for you dad!
-
That’s some dedication to scouting! Your Dad will be proud! Hope you bag a monster bull.
Good luck!
-
Good luck hope you get a good one.

Have fun, and enjoy every moment.👍
-
Good luck!! Enjoy, and don't stress to much about size, do like you did for your moose, just take the one that feels right. I;m sure you'll find a dandy!

Good luck. I know there were some nice ones still there when I left at the end of archery. I don't think anyone got the 8x8 or the 7x8 (with a nice droptine) that I was after. Plus some odd ones that were just cool.
-
Sounds like you know where and what you’re hunting. If for some reason you would like a little help or direction, I might be able to help. Enjoy the hunt, your dad would be proud. Have a good hunt

Tomorrow's the day, good luck.

Well, I’m still at it looking for the right one. I passed on a pretty decent 320ish 6 yesterday. Today I’ve seen a 5x6 and a small 6. The fog has been absolutely brutal to deal with!! I’ll be hiked into an area a mile and the fog will roll in and I can’t see 40 yards. I’m at least seeing elk and seeing bulls. I just have to find the right one! Thanks for everyone’s good luck and help. We will get this done!
-
Keep at it.
Never give up.

You're the only other person I've seen who's seen the 7x8 droptine bull..... glad he's still alive! I saw him at the end of August and about shid my pants.

Does this bulls drop tine come off his right side by his G3?

Good luck to you Fireguy. Keep us posted on your hunt; excited to hear about the outcome. Sounds like you have out the work in; it will pay off.

30 years to draw a world class tag, 9 days early doesn't sound bad to me. If a guy can swing it with work/family.

I didn't see the droptine personally but talked to multiple spike hunters that did. Well I don't think I seen it. I saw a couple bulls that I didn't see both sides in that same area.

Seen well over 200 head yesterday with multiple bulls! Couple really nice ones! PM me if you're still looking

Saw a great bull in the back of a dark chevy truck last night on snoqualmie pass. Too dark and rainy for a photo. I hope it was you, really nice bull with a kicker out the left side of the main beam and G4.
-
Update: day 4 and I’m still at it. I have seen at least 6 bulls a day and today found a couple that would fit the bill. Thanks to “backstraps” for some solid intel. Unfortunately they didn’t want to play nicely. Hopefully tomorrow is the day. Fingers crossed. I walking on thin ice…. Been in the woods for 14 days and my wife fractured her ankle two days ago (minor fracture) and is at home making sure the kids are good. Thankfully she is an amazing wife and understands my passions for hunting (she hunts also) and understands how important this tag is… she drew the Entiat buck tag so I’m praying things get better for her soon! Thanks again to everyone for the help and positive thoughts!
-
Atta guy stay with it. Sucks about your wife, thankfully we have great gals at home who are able to handle home front when this tag comes up. My with did it for 2 weeks last season when i had the archery tag for there. In early season we saw some pretty solid bulls up there. Best of luck main thing is keep a positive head and enjoy every minute of it as it goes so fast.
-
Fingers crossed you are packing elk today.
We are all pulling for you.

Day 6: I’m not sure what to think. Yesterday I went back to the area that was holding elk and they were gone. I looked high and low and found a group of 40 with a small 6 but not what I was after. A friend called me mid day and said big bull 2 hours away on the breaks of the river… so I hop in the side by side and away I go…. We found him eventually but he wasn’t as big as we had hoped from a couple miles away. He was on the breaks of the Columbia… it was a long side by side ride…. Anyways guys have told me general season is a mess and today I greatly underestimated what a mess it would be… I was surrounded by spike hunters with a herd of 4 “decent” bulls… with one in particular I wanted.. they fired 25-30 Shots and I couldn’t get the big bull out of the cows and I’m not about to take an unethical shot… it was a S*** show… oh well… I guess that’s why they say get it done before general. Regardless it’s been fun. Im getting up at 4:30 and hunting til dark. Today is day 15 day in the woods.. I still havnt seen that OMG monster. I’ve searched long and far. Hiked long and far… I’ve seen good bulls and many bulls guys would be happy with… but as you guys have said I’ll know when it’s the one. Tomorrow is a new day… and it only takes one…
-
You never know when it’s going to happen but you have to be in the woods when it does.
Things will settle down a bit during the week and as the season goes on.
-
Day 9: the last two days havnt been great. I’ve been following a lead that I have heard from three different guys that a “370” bull was standing here two days in a row and let us take pictures. Well I’ve been there two days and hiked all over and no such luck. We head to a different area and a few different people say 350+ bull saw him two hours ago working across the knob.. great… send the search party and nothing… I was lucky enough to see a 150” 4pt deer up reecer today on public.. lol holding strong but I am exhausted… day 18 looking for the one.. tomorrow is another day..
-
Good luck man!!! It’ll all come together eventually!!!
-
Thanks for the update. Best of luck to you. You will find what your looking for!
-
I am impressed, 18 days is a long time to grind. Way to stay after it and not settle! Really hoping you smash a giant bull after all that work, keep the faith!
-
Keep at it. You never know when it is going to happen.
Thanks for the update. You've got this!
-
I don’t even know what day it is today…. But still at it… maybe tomorrow… every time I’m close to the magic X someone moves that son of a B****!! 😡😡 I can tell you it’s not from a lack of hiking and looking… sun up to sun down … I’ve passed a lot of bulls… I’ve seen lots of big ones that have been shot… 3 days left.
-
Keep at it and enjoy! Best of luck out there!
-
Fingers crossed today is the day.
PM sent.

Day 21 in the woods.. day 12 of the season… had 2.5 days left.. I have literally spend from sun up to sun down in the woods with the exception of Wednesday which I took a day off because my wife with the ankle issue had a cow tag. I needed a day off and I did to help her get a cow in a different unit… she made a perfect shot at 517 yards and it took 7 steps and dropped.. I was actually very jealous of her shot! She killed it! She was shooting my new 28 nosler custom built by straight jacket out of Wyoming. The thing drives nails!! Anyways. I have been searching all over for a monster… I have met tons of guys in the woods that are keeping an eye out.. one of the guys on here sends me to a location with a 370 bull.. Thursday I head in and talk to guys that are coming out and literally 20 mins before say the elk and big bull. I hike and belly craw for 300 yards on this herd and after 5 hours decide to get them up out of bed. 70 cows and a fork… F Me! So tomorrow is another day. My wife who has been dealing with 20 days camping in the woods days they are taking camp home.. (I live in Cle Elum). I would love to help but I have a focus. So my buddy meets me at the parking area and we head up. Get to the area I saw 70 and we see a small 6, rag and a cow feeding into a draw. I look left and see elk all over a hillside… we work up that way and there is a herd of 3-400 with two decent bulls but not the one… so we work back to where we were looking and hike further down so we can spot into the draw where they were headed and we see 15 elk with a small 6 with a great 2… prob 20
Inches but that’s all he has lol… I look above him and see a good bull… at this point I’m running out of time… so we hike 600ft elevation down and 1000 ft elevation up to this knob…. Walk over the top and have a small 6 at 40 yards…. He sees us and works down at a 45 away… we walk the ridge back and elk start pouring out of the bottom… and then start pouring out from our left… two different groups! They meet up prob 150 elk and my buddy says two bulls working out… I liked the character of one.. I told him I would shoot a small bull in this hell hole… but things happened and I did… I saw thousands of elk over 21 days… I hunted the entire unit… followed leads from everyone…. Was a day late and a dollar short… but as others have mentioned it will feel right and it was time… 500 yards.. end of season… in a hell hole… but I know my dad would be looking down proud as hell of me for all the miles and work I have put in looking for a monster. They are for sure there… I’m not 1 bit sad… I did my work… I passed so many bulls… and here I am.. done and happy! Love you dad.

I have blisters on both my heals… we are currently cleaning my bull and processing my buddies spike.. we had three elk from our camp so far. My uncle still has a cow tag. 🤞
-
And we are now headed to Entiat for my wife’s Quality tag.. 🤦♂️

Congratulations
-
Congratulations. Glad you were able to put one down. I like the blades and the point of the G4. I am a sucker for an animal with character.
-
Great hunt!! Your definitely got the most out of the tag! The hunt is where the memories are made, the trophy is the experience the head and antlers will always remind you of the the experience, the effort and the hunt! Congrats on a super bull you will always treasure.
-
Nicely done, love his left side.👍
-
What a season for you! Great bull and hunt when you factor in everything. Way to stick with it. Now go find that giant in the Entiat. They are getting some snow in the high country.
-
Way to stick with it till the end. Sounds like you had a quality experience. I know there’s bigger bulls out there but there is nothing wrong with that bull!

Congrats on a well earned trophy!!!

Congrats on a great bull. Good luck to your wife on her quality tag as well.
-
Man that's a great bull!! Glad you found the one!! He is defiantly a bull to be proud of!! When I draw that tag, I'm calling on you for inspiration when things look bleak. Nice going!
-
Congrats! Do we get any other (better) pics of this bull?
-
Good luck. I know there were some nice ones still there when I left at the end of archery. I don't think anyone got the 8x8 or the 7x8 (with a nice droptine) that I was after. Plus some odd ones that were just cool.

Does this bulls drop tine come off his right side by his G3?
It was on his left side.
-
Congrats on a great bull

I’ve been trying to post other pics from my phone and both chrome and safari won’t do it!! This is in the middle of cutting up 4 elk from our camp and trying to leave for my wife’s Entiat tag!! The whole time running and gunning is proving true! I’m tired but one more special permit to fill!! I will send pics when I can I promise! I just don’t have the energy. I packed a whole elk out my 75 year old uncle got yesterday on a 65 and over tag. 👌🙏👍 day 25 in the woods? 🤷♂️🤷♂️
