Title: Chief Joseph
Post by: Fin and Feathers on November 09, 2021, 05:12:40 PM: Was thinking of expanding my drive while gas is at it's highest price right now... :chuckle:...I've never hunted Chief Joseph and was wondering if access is pretty good for chasing chukar. I've come across a few hiking posts on another website and it seems like there are only two locations.

Post by: salish on November 11, 2021, 07:41:44 AM: I've hunted turkeys there for years, but there has been such a drastic reduction in numbers this past season I didn't even bother. I always see lots of wildlife, and quite a few pheasants, but oddly enough I've never seen any chukar there. And I get into some elevation, too. I'm not sure why that is since it's practically in chukar heaven. I must not have gotten high enough to encounter birds. Like metlhead said, be prepared for steep.

Good for you. Were you anywhere near Rogersburg?
