First I want to thank the guys that gave me suggestions on places to be checking. Finally ended up getting my moose on Thursday. First couple days I spent most of the time just checking as many places I could looking for fresh sign. Ended up finding several moose that wolves had killed. The areas that had a lot of wolf sign didn't have hardly any moose or deer sign. Found several cows that had calves with them. I was really starting to get worried that I wouldn't find a cow that didn't have a calf. The cow I ended up getting was only the second one I found that didn't have a calf. It ended up working out really good that I found her in a spot that I could make 100% sure she didn't have a calf. That was one of my biggest worries that I would shoot a cow and not see the calf and it show itself after the shot. Ended up finding my moose on Thursday around 4pm and after we knew their wasn't a calf I took my shot and dumped her in her tracks. She didn't take a step. So after a few pictures the real work started. It ended being 12am when we got her all loaded up and heading off the mountain. I also want to thank my brother for all his help. I couldn't have did it without his help. Those quarters were really heavy! It sure was nice after 20 years of putting in for moose to finally get to go after one. Hopefully I get to go after a bull sometime. Again I really want to thank the guys here on the site that took the time to send me some suggestions on places to be checking. I had an awesome hunt!
